Will your desktop/laptop run PS2? V2 ***Ask here***

Wondering if your computer will run PS2? Well this thread is here to help you figure this out.

Current Minimum System Requirements
OS: Windows XP
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 or higher / AMD Phenom II X2 or higher
Memory: 4 GB RAM
Hard Drive: 15 GB free
Video Memory: 256 MB RAM
Video Card: nVidia GeForce 8600 series or higher / AMD or ATI 4850 series or higher
Sound Card: DirectX compatible

Current Recommended System
OS: Windows 7
Processor: Intel i5 processor or higher / AMD Phenom II X6 or higher
Memory: 8 GB RAM
Hard Drive: 15 GB free
Video Memory: 1,024 MB RAM
Video Card: nVidia GeForce 500 series or higher / AMD HD 6870 or higher
Sound Card: DirectX compatible
Above is the current minimum and recommended system requirements. This is open to change bare in mind come launch. If you still are not sure feel free to ask in this thread.

Two core processors are not enjoyable playing this game currently. People can play the game, but its on the lower settings with low FPS. Don't have a expectation that despite having a more recent video card will save you from bad FPS. This game is highly CPU bound, so even having a GTX 680 on your old C2D won't help you at all. Even some C2Q and Phenom II X4s are having issues with this game.

In my opinion the best route to get the proper performance in this game is to get a cheap i5 quad core. Like the i5 2300 to i5 34X0 series. Anything above a 7770 or GTX 460 GPU with one of those CPUs will give you a great playing experience. RAM is cheap right now and the game can be a memory hog, so you may run into issues running 4GB. If you have a DDR3 mobo grab 8GB of ram for $30 and that should help relieve some potential issues.

8gb vengance ram
fx-4100 oc 4.5
MSI GTX 660ti PE

I get the push for the Intel processors, but lots of folks playing have AMD based MB. To get a descent MB and i5 processor I am looking at 350 bucks!!! I sure hope the piledriver's make up for it or I am gonna have to dump the cash on a new MB and processor.

So at this point with the above specs how should I fare? Im in beta playing on low settings right now at 1080 res and FPS gets in the 20's in BIG fights....(I am currently using a GTX 550ti and have the new GPU above in the mail)

Not sure how that stacks up and how much the CPU has an impact on game performance.....

Well, if you're CPU limited you should be able to turn up the settings a good bit and still turn out the same frame rates.
Enabling GPU PhysX might help frame rates in that case too.

Your CPU is pretty much as good as AMD gets for gaming...It's probably at least as good as my first gen i5. With a GTX570 I've found framerates passable, with the occasional dip to 20, but mostly in the 30+ region on mostly high settings. I feel like GPU PhysX helped smooth things out...but I don't have anything but a feeling to back that up.
Don't hold out too much hope for Piledriver (partly because I don't think it's going in anything except APUs). It's the next iteration, Steamroller, that maybe fixes things: http://semiaccurate.com/2012/09/06/a...amroller-core/

Of course, Haswell will be around by then. Still ahead by a feature size node and now on a new architecture.

N-o-p-e.

Supposedly it's has 15% higher IPC over Bulldozer, plus higher clock speeds. It probably won't be a pleasant surprise, but it should be better than BD.

Yeah it will be in the FX cpus, I was mixed up from the wording of a Trinity benchmark.

The case still stands though. 15% and some clockspeed isn't enough to really catch up, let alone be superior. The major architectural issues won't be sorted until Steamroller.

Will my PC Run PS2?

I currently been playing the beta and I notice that I get 15 FPS if its a huge battle of infantry infiltrating/a base and Tank ( I also get 60+ on open free of arms area) If theres any tweaks I can make please reply or do I really need to upgrade?

Specs:
OS: Windows Vista Home Premium
Processor: Intel Quad Core CPU Q9400 @ 2.66GHz 2.67GHz
Memory: B GB RAM
Hard Drive: 1 TB
Video Memory: 8GB Ram
Video Card: NVIDIA Geforce GTX 550 Ti
Sound Card: Onboard

I heard they are still optimizing the game so there is still a chance maybe for this rig to work?.

Like I was saying, I think turning on GPU PhysX will help in a CPU-bound scenario...which is what I think is going on with the Core 2 Quads and lower.

Of course, the 550Ti isn't particularly strong so maybe you end up bottlenecking at the GPU instead.

Fiddle with settings (especially resolution). If performance doesn't change much, it's a CPU thing. You can go from there.

WinXP
2Gb Ddr2 RAM
Nvidia Gtx 275
AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ Black Edition

I'm obviously not expecting good perormance just wondered if it would run at all?

If that is a quad i5 you should be able to run medium settings IMO.

Not good at all IMO. CPU is going to be a massive bottleneck.

Just curious, I know my CPU will be a MASSIVE bottleneck. Currently my rig as it stands:

AMD Phenom II B25 2.7GHz (4th core unlocked from Athlon II X3 425)
HD 4850
1920x1080 native, although I typically game at 1600x900
8GB DDR3
Win7Ulti
500w PSU

I've just ordered a 7850 that'll be arriving in the mail within a few days. Once my budget allows (likely around Black Friday/Christmas) I'm getting an i5 3570k along with a value mobo, as I don't plan to crossfire or use most of the features on higher-end boards.

Should run decently I would expect. May run into some CPU hick ups though due to having a two core CPU.

In game that CPU is going to cause a bottleneck. Supposedly they have increased performance, but I haven't tested by Phenom II rig recently. Last time I did it was rather unplayable even with a 7950 unless you like low settings and not so good FPS in big fights. Upgrading ASAP to that i5 will do wonders.

Thanks! Do you have an idea as to what settings I should play with to get optimal FPS at around ~30?

I'm assuming a mix of low and medium settings?

Only played GW2 on medium so not sure how this will play out.

Has anyone brave enough tried the beta on an Asus Zenbook ux32vd?
Sports an nvidia geforce 620m card and an i5-3317U (1.8 GHz)

It's a work computer, and I'm just curious if it will even run on low settings.
