Anyone, else get killed while trying to change weapons (between the chain-gun and missile launcher). I use the grounder and the chain-gun and often get killed while trying to switch between them. It is a good 3.5 seconds before the first bullet flies switching between the weapons. The 3.5 seconds includes the time it takes the barrel to get up to speed.
My question is why have this shot delay? A jackhammer and lasher both fire the second you pull the trigger. If the weapon damage for the TR is low, but out rate of fire is high, isn’t that enough? I have learned to adjust for the most part but in my opinion this is an unnecessary delay. |

Also, the Thunderbolt IIs autocannon (it is rotary) doesn't have to spinup, nor does the chain cannon on the Apache heli. Last edited by AThreatToYou; 2012-10-25 at 05:09 PM. |

The term "chaingun" refers to the driving mechanism. The M230 on the Apache is a single-barreled weapon with nothing to spin. The GAU-8, on the other hand, is driven by the hydraulic system and a pair of electric motors. Getting the ~150 horses to drive a zero-spinup weapon should be trivial in the mysterious future. I suspect it's strictly a design preference. |
