PS2 has an odd system for gun customization. Every gun gets the same mods, scopes etc, yet those parts must be unlocked for each gun variant. Having scopes independent from the gun would make the system much better and more fun. But thats not all. That got me to thinking, why not have all the parts of a gun independent of the gun type? So, my idea is to split the gun parts into separate categories, all parts being interchangeable. The categories could be Upper Receiver - This would be the barrel. Lower Receiver - This would dictate the type of weapon such as LMG,SMG,battle rifle etc. Stock - This could could provide recoil compensation or accuracy improvement Rail - Same as now, but now the rail parts are interchangeable with all guns.(or most if there are restrictions). Scope - self explanatory Muzzle - This could could affect bullet speed, spread, accuracy This would improve customization much more than it is now. The classes stay the same, with the same abilities and armor but the guns are now separated from the classes. |

I like the idea of attachments being separate. However, I do not feel the splitting would work. You're essentially trying to take an ar-15, match it to different non ar-15 receivers and have it function. All of the guns would be even more bland if you went ahead with this cause it'd require all of them to have uppers and lowers matched all the time, so no matter what you were running you'd always have at least a lower or upper that was pretty much the same thing as the original.
