I feel as an NC soldier I kill more tanks per life being on foot and using anti tank mines and Phoenix than being in well certed Vanguard with anti tank canon.
Is it broken game mechanics or work as designed? Or may be I do not know how to use Vanguard properly? Last edited by almalino; 2013-05-11 at 09:12 AM. |

The main reason inf kills more tanks tanks tanks do is - SURPRISE - most tank drivers are bad tank drivers.
Or in a more charitable light perhaps you could say its because most tanks driver take big risks in their haste to rack up infantry kill kills around bases. If tank driver used tactics similar to tanks IRL they wouldnt die nearly so much.

it´s because a solotank simply can´t operate as effective as a driver/gunner tank could.
that plus the low ttk in the game makes everything a glasscannon and bigger glasscannons (tanks) are at a greater risk of getting targeted. as a tank you just go for other tanks. but as infantry you can go for everything. so it´s a little asymetrical. everything can kill a tank with ease. infantry, air and ground vehicles.

Yes. This is true.
Often I play at low pop times and occasionally I'd come across a situation where there would be me versus 2 heavies. If the heavies know what they're doing they can take me out. The most important thing for them is never to get onto a downslope from my viewpoint. If they do splash damage as little as it is comes into play and I am usually ok. Other than that I have to rely on a direct hit headshot. Often I've thought that it would be easier actually getting out of the tank and trying to kill them with the T5. |

IMO the Tank health buff has made things fine. You just need to work on your aim. Granted it may seem a bit silly that you must absolutely direct hit Infantry to kill them. Since splash was reduced, and Flak absorbs what little damage there is. I do think HE needs a buff as currently they are useless. HE should deal a lot more damage closer to where the shot lands in addition to just a bigger splash.
As for killing enemy Tanks you should not be having a problem with the Vanguard. The only tank you should fear is a deployed Prowler with AV gunner. That can put out enough damage so fast you can't win head on. But otherwise you have the strongest front armor, hardest hitting main gun with a very fast shot, and a shield that can absorb even more damage. If your losing against other tanks your doing it wrong. |

I was of the same thought. I have a vanguard that I've pushed about 2000 certs into, with AP cannon, enforcer, NV optics, Vanguard shield, cosmetics and more. I could hardly ever get kills when I drove, whereas when I play HA with a Phoenix and munitions pouch 3, or LA with c4, I would get heaps of tank kills. However, one day I pulled my vanguard and gave it to a member of my outfit, I gunned the enforcer while he took control. We went on an AT rampage, killing vehicles left and right. I don't know why it didn't hit me earlier because about 10 other guys have the EXACT (And I mean IDENTICAL) vanguard to me and always do brilliantly. I'm just a terrible tank driver

But you cant take 500m+ shots to take out an enemy tank. Only game you can use RL tank tactics is Arma, using a prowler with Marauder 2nd gun I just charge Inf positions blitzkreig style. Tank drivers in RL wouldnt dream of doing that lol.

This has to do with the game being based on instant constant supply of materials. With the storyling of the game, "respawning insta weapons", a supply instanty exist. And one is vastly superior to the other. The foot soldier with the launcher(especially with this much terrain ups and downs and small areas). That has to be compensated for with something or the game has to be expanded to make more complex dynamics and hence remake the situation. This was compensated for in PS1. Basically with damage to hits. AKA little guy squeeshy big thing go boom(they forced combat!). But that is only one way to do it. It would be interesting to see them capable of doing it in another interesting way! Sadly they ain't the mathematicians though. They get surprised when they see the magic! 8p It is not their playground of choice! 8\ Hence they can only crawl in it. With a limp. With most of their body being blown off by their own munitions. And bleeding to death unaware of what way they are going or have gone! And sadly are! 8(....

I think he is morely reffering to a way in which you drive the tank. This game is far from RL but with the sheer amount of people in a given battle, it makes you re -evaluate how you go about the situation. This is were the line is drawn between good and bad tank drivers.
