Sound problems

I have an Asus A7N8X and use the on board sound. It started clipping out/ kinda distorting when I started playing Rainbow 6 RS. I'm trying to re create it, but I'm wondering if you guys might now what is up?

Here is the site - and the dl's for the motherboard.

http://usa.asus.com/products/mb/sock...d/overview.htm

I know dick about sound. I never had decent sound before this mb.

Here are the speakers I'm using - -

It' might be a setting that I have set in windows xp for all I know.

I know that I had a similar problem with my mobo (check sig for mobo I'm using) when I started to play BF1942. All I did was disable it and use my Santa Cruz card and the problem went away, obviously.

I doubt that it's your speakers, because they only put out what gets processed on the APU. It could be a bug with the nForce APU. Do you have the latest drivers installed for it? I found this site for any updates you may need. I will try to see if I can solve my problem with the on-board sound this week and pass on what I discovered.

sound like a driver problem or the dreaded crackle with Nforce 2 boards something to do with the hardware, I've heard a lot of reports of sound breaking up in games etc. on thes nforce boards.

Check and see if your sound card is sharing IRQs with another device.

This on board sound uses only 3% - I checked into it. Ive got a 2700+ and a gig of pc2700 so I'm not too worried.

THanks guys, I'm still messin with it....

1) Go to the Control Panel.
2) Double-click on "System" and a window pops up.
3) Click on the "Hardware" tab.
4) Click on "Device Manager" and a window pops up.
5) At the top, click "View", and from the menu that appears click "Resources by type".
6) Click on the + symbol next to "Interrupt request (IRQ)" and a list of your devices appears.
7) Next to each device is a number. Find your sound card, and see if It's number matches anything else. If so, tell me what it is and I'll help you from there.

Do you use any USB stuff when you play Rainbow 6 RS? If not, then IRQ isn't the problem.

Raven Shield is really hard on the sound...

tried reducing the hardware acceleration for sound a notch in the dxdiag?

could be that the onboard card is choking....
