lava: sink or swim?

when your fall in lava can you stay in for a bit losing life as you go? or when you fall in you automatically die? same goes with vehicles. can u drive breifly on lava? or does your vehicle explode. and are there certain death animations just for dying in lava? like if you die in lava your body catches on fire and gets charred black.

Ah, catching on fire and getting charred. The particles and per-pixel shading would certainly be conducive to large battles!

Yes, you can stay in lava, however it does alot of damage and continues to do damage for a short while after you leave it.

My advice to you is to avoid the lava.

There is no fire animation as far as I know, but you know know what they might add.

I'm not a huge fan of how long people can survive lava baths in everquest, but at least they have magic to explain it...

Falling into lava should be instantly fatal in PS.

Matuse, if you dip your foot in Lava you will not be instantly dead.

I can assure you that if you take the time to full submerge your character, it will have already died.

Good luck even getting close enough to dip your foot into it.

If you got close enough to put your foot into a substantial mass of Lava, the ambient heat would likely prove fatal. Since the game does not have location damage, or partial wounding (ie: taking a hit to the leg lowering your runspeed), we have to deal with what we have.

The alternative to coding in something to account for "your foot got burnt off" is to kill the person. It's the most realistic scenario, given the limitations of the game engine.
