Meshh Station Member Registered: Apr 2003 posted 04-14-2003 07:01 PM user search report post -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I recently read a post by SmokeJumper where he explained some complaints about PS by saying that all FPS have those problems and that just part of the game. I have also heard people say that this game costs monthly money and that it should not even be compared to other FPS because you can play those for free. I would have to agree with these people, PS cannot be another FPS and should not be compared to one. If it has the faults of a FPS, then fix it. People will pay monthly money for a MMOG only it if offers them something other FREE FPS can't. Like long term objectives, and incentives for having a 24/7 guard of all bases captured. I put up a post with some of my idea about adjustments to the game, but this post was mainly to say that comparing PS to a FPS is poor taste. If PS is just a FPS, infact even if its the best one out there, people won't pay monthly fees for it. Form your own opinions. Remember that we're in beta...and that we still have time before release to address game balance issues. The issues that folks are discussing right now are not major issues, even though they may sound like it. They aren't framerate, lag, or stability issues. They're just number tweaking issues and a few game mechanics (like the "phantom hacker" solution that's upcoming soon). That stuff is easy from a development standpoint, so expect good changes soon. Additionally, always keep in mind that folks that LIKE the game are usually playing. It's only folks with a beef that post (typically)...so forums are always more negative than a true sampling of the gamer population would show. And don't just take my word for it. Go read any of the countless glowing previews we're receiving. Those are all written by folks that are IN THE BETA and playing it on a regular basis...and who HAVE been playing it for more than a month. There's lots of good here. http://boards.station.sony.com/ubb/p...ML/005906.html
