Last night on the Johari Server there was one of the greatest fire fights Ive ever been involved in on the continent of Solsar.
New Congolmerate Vs. Terran Republic Vs. Sporadic pockets of Vanu Society. I was on the NC side, we held a pretty large majority of the continent at the beginning of the night, but, the Terrans kept pushing very aggressively. The first battle in a string of many great battles was a tower that got jumped by a Vanu Galaxy. I was in a Sunderer with a crew of about 6, 2 gunners, 1 max and some other occupants. Our initial goal was to reinforce the battle that was occurring at one of the northern bases we had control of. As I set a course towards the base I was suddenly stopped in my tracks as my one of my Outfit members says Our Tower just got HACKED by the Vanu!! I say You serious? Guys, we have GOT to stop them or our flow of captures will be hosed. I turn the Sunderer around and head straight for the tower. One vanu max, 2 medium armored soldiers are there. Boom Boom, two 75 MM cannons firing away, were hammering them and killing them. But their numbers werent low, my Sunderer eventually bit the dust, but definitely kept us alive and kept the Maxs at bay. My other squad mate smartly setup an AMS nearby so we could keep constant pressure on the tower. 15 minutes of fighting, and the Vanu were vanquished. This was the best example of how much fun a pure Squad vs Squad combat operation can be. It was definitely a 10 on 10 battle and certainly a foreshadowing of what the night was going to be like. Fast forward a little bit to the northern areas of Solsar. The terran republic was pushing REALLY hard, we captured a tower outside (I believe an AMP base, not sure) their sphere. Roughly 2-4 NC squads were there in some of the most vicious firefights Ive seen since getting into beta. Prowlers, Vanguards, Reavers, everywhere. The battle for this tower went on for well over an hour, I easily died 10 times, and may have killed between 12-18 people, destroyed a Prowler as well. Eventually this tower fell, the terrans were just overwhelming after a while. At this point there was a lot of back and forth fighting for the northern bases, we retreated to an NC held base and started forming a defensive perimeter around the base expecting another Terran rush. It got juicy again, this time the Sunderer proved once again invaluable, I was able to position my squad near a tower they hacked and totally overrun them with brute force. Towards the end of the night (Well for me at least), we were finally able to seal off the two bases and almost had them pushed back to their portal. Unfortunately I had to log off as it was very late at night. Obviously things change and the Terrans could have complete control of Solsar now. Be warned though, Im coming back tonight, and I will be kicking ass and taking names. Some things to note 1- I picked up many Cyclers last night, I really like this weapon a lot. The biggest benefit to it is the 50 round clip, and this is probably the biggest reason why people think its unbalanced. 2- The sunderer is an invaluable vehicle. If youre in a squad and SOMEONE doesnt have one youre at a disadvantage. You need to realize how great this thing is, the fact that I can use it as a defensive tool and offensive tool is completely amazing to me. For instance, I was able to shield my engineer from fire last night as he was setting up turrets and motion detectors around our base. Also, I was able to take out a tower that had a lot of Terran Maxs dominating us for a while. I love this vehicle and will absolutely be certified in it in retail. 3- Voice over IP is a beautiful thing, issuing commands instead of typing them is just beautiful. 4- When you have a squad that FOLLOWS your lead and everyone is on the same page, balance issues seem to be a thing that is forgotton. 5- Pick up enemy weapons, use them. BUT, store them in your locker!! I now have a cycler in my locker for spare keeping! 6- The lasher is fantastic, KEEP one of these too. Thats it for now, I hope you enjoyed my story. |

great story rotten
heh I would love inside base battles where the generators is off and some empire is attacking and constantly gaining ground towards the CC and the defending force has problems holding them off and asks for backup, which wont be there for quite some time so they have to defend and defend till the backup is there I love theese stories, and this game I only had a bloody 666mhz comp when I could mail 4 beta |

wow loved that account of the battle
I am also in love with the sunderer except when you have an idiot driver who parks you facing up the hill so you cant fire at the ground troops it can take serious amounts of fire the other night we drove through three firefights on the way to a tower in which we parked up outside to provide a static defense myself and the other gunner manged to destroy countless max's/troops/a reaver and a gal before it succumbed to its damage

I was in that battle last night, also NC. My squad consisted of 2 Vanguards, and Enforcer, and support infantry. First we helped lock Esamir, then from there we warped to Solsar. We were on of the first squads on the continent. TR had pretty much the entire continent locked down. WE came in and took over the southern half of the continent in about 45 minutes flat.
Man... towards the Northern end of Solsar the fighting started to get really intense. There was the northern most base.... I think Seth is it's name. There must have been 20 turrets at that one base alone. Destroyed my Enforcer in 2 seconds flat. Needless to say I stayed up till 4am to make sure we locked the entire continent, then I passed out from exhaustion. -Virt |

I loved that battle running fire fights hot drops, I dont think there's a tree on Cysor that doesnt have at least a few bullet holes in it. Virt was my squad leader did an awesome job although we had better cohesion at the begining of the night (mostly because it was just a 2 squad deal and then became all out war as we entered the center of the field) spent equal parts in Max and in engie driver mode, the teamwork not just on the squad level but the faction was awesome. In a very special way the highlight for me was getting a friendly non squad Gal to drop me in an ant off to refuel a low on power base. I cannot preach to people especialy you non maxes the importance of darklight vision. It will save your lives. I killed 6 seperate infiltrators who were chilling in those little nooks in the service coordors, that's discounting what i found trying to camp the main advanced med terminal in the bio lab (a focal point of much of the fighting). I also like to sing the praises of the sunderer but you cannot argue the skydrop and ant hauling capabilites of a gal.
