Commanders get different helmets?

I have been a rank 2 commander for a long time now, but I just noticed that my helmet in reinforced armor and in agile is black with a red stripe. I have the first armor upgrade from getting battle rank 7. Someone else in my outfit who also has the first armor upgrade was wearing reinforced armor also. His helmet was red with a black stripe. So yeah, I never noticed that before, by the way I play on the Terran Republic. Oh and I yes I have the leg pads no matter what armor I wear. This helmet thing seems to be in addition.

That might be for reinforced, I know with Agile Armour, you get shin pads.

I believe that he is talking about Battle Rank. You must have the first BATTLE Rank change, which will invert the stripes on your armor. Your friend must have the second change, which inverts the entire color scheme.

Nice to hear that there are visual indications of rank, hopefully none of them look exceedingly silly. Does the rank of the person you kill, either BR or CR, have any effect on how much experience you get for them? Or is a complete newbie worth the same amount as that CR5 BR20 commander guy, who would seem to be rather more important to the other side?

I believe that a BR20 CR5 person is worth the same experience as a newbie, but then again, I've only heard it, not in beta yet

Frog... We both had the same armor battle rank upgrade... Only difference is that I am a rank 2 commander and he is a rank 0... Same armor, reinforced... His helmet was red mine was black... You upgrade armor looks at rank 7 and then again at 14.

I believe it's just variations. Some people have the red helmets in reinforced, and others have the black helmets. It's random in my opinion.

Yeah, that's my take on it as well. I've had Reinforced characters with black and red stripe helmets, and red and black stripe helmets. They were effectively identical, and I couldn't see any reas for the difference.

I was wondering the same thing Talon. I'm CR2/BR13. Hopefully I'll keep the black helmet with the red stripe because that combination actually looks pretty damn sweet with the red armor updrade at BR14.
