Author Topic: buggy sky diving
upchuck9899 Station Member Registered: Nov 2002 posted 12-11-2002 03:48 PM user search report post -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ok this is just a funny statment to go along with the what happens if the pilot of a galaxies gets disconnect form the game of just bails and leaves you with no pilot. At a very high altitude ok if this happens you are pretty much doomed as far as we know so far. so why not back the buggy out and go sky diving with the buggy or the tank and have so fun and a few laughs. hum i wonder if a galaxie does a low skim over the ground very fast and you back up out of it without landing. it could be used for fast insertions. ok remember this is just fun stuff so please dont flame me or anything. ************* **********************DEV RPLY SmokeJumperPS Station Admin Registered: Sep 2001 posted 12-13-2002 07:13 AM user search report post -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If your pilot goes linkdead, then the Galaxy will auto-pilot down to the ground nearby and let you all disembark. If you don't want to wait that long (or if the auto-pilot is taking you somewhere particularly hostile), then you can bail out of the vehicle at any time (yes...including the buggy) and use the kinetic dampeners to hit the ground softly. No worries. http://boards.station.sony.com/ubb/p...ML/000644.html

Author Topic: Roof top landings and drop offs
Helstrom109 Station Member Registered: Aug 2001 posted 12-13-2002 05:31 AM user search report post -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I was wondering if any of the vehicles can land on the rooftops of structures? From all the pictures I have seen the roofs all appear to be flat. I would think that the mosquito and reaver should at least be able to land on a roof, then a stealther could jump out and cause some havoc Imagine if you could land a Galaxy on a roof... unload your troops and a light tank...woohoo! troops that are on higher ground always have a tactical advantage. You would also be able to use the Galaxy's 12mm cannons against the ground targets in the base compound as well. ************** DEV RPLY ***************** SmokeJumperPS Station Admin Registered: Sep 2001 posted 12-13-2002 07:11 AM user search report post -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There are roof entries to all the facilities. Bailing out of a vehicle onto a rooftop is a valid tactic. http://boards.station.sony.com/ubb/p...ML/000703.html

Land on top of a rooftop? Bah! I say jump out of a Galaxy 1000 feet over the base and then land on the roof! Oh and what happens if you back out the Buggy but you don't bail and hit the ground? Will it blow up or will it be fine or does it depend on where it lands?

This game is looking better and better every day!!
Can you imagine getting an outfit specialising in fast attacks with this tactic? Get half to fly the galaxies other half in light tanks and MAXs, fly full speed over enemy base and boom drop off while over the base. |

That's been my tactic all along so don't think you're the first one to think of it... actually, that was the first tactic I thought of when I heard you could jump out of ships which was a reaaally long time ago...

Thank you! Thank you very much! I know it is hard to live with such a great genius amongst you but I guess you'll have to live with it! I mean, who, other than me, could have thought of such a great tactic? [/sarcasm]

We were talking about this in IRC the other night, and wondering if the Tanks or Buggys could bail out. One of the things we talked about was weather or not a vechicle would explode when it hit the ground.
If it does explode, you coulde use a Galaxy/Tank combo as a bomber. |
