Ok, just thought I would let everyone know what I found out today. I just reserved a copy of PlanetSide at one of the local stores where I live at, and they said that as of now the official release date is 3/5/2003, now of course this is all subject to change if they have any issues from beta testing that haven't been resolved in time.

While this is good to hear, I would not put any faith in the date. If anyone follows the TF community they might remember when TF2 was slated for release a year or so ago, and copies were presold. I know of a few ppl that were very upset when they got their money refunded (i'm not saying PS is anywhere close to vapourware tho.)

I understand where you are coming from on that, but I also know that everything I have read on the beta testing shows that this will not be vap'd. In fact the review from this site show that the beta testing is doing great and with very little if any faults. I don't think anyone will have to worry about it not coming out, just on when. Like I said the release date is subject to change depending on beta testing results. If they do put it out on the date that it has been slated and they find there are a few more fixes I am sure they will have it set up the same way that EverQuest is set up, you log in and do a download after login that will update any new patches that they didn't have at time of shipping out the game.

Since there's still alot of time left normally games will have delays but it shouldn't be much and I've never seen a game release before an old release date. Quite often after though. Sony is normally on-time but take into accout shipping too. When I got my copy of Earth and beyond is was about 2 weeks after the release date because of bad shipping.
