So, before I get started, I will clearly state that I am NOT a n00b, I play as ChemicalHex on Johari, and am on the leaderboard for the Vanu empire, last i checked. Now that we got that out of the way for the flaming 12 year olds, I'll start my rant.
The Lasher, when used correctly, will still get you alot of kills. At a medium range, the Lasher will destroy most people using a minichaingun or Jackhammer. In my hands, and the hands of those in my outfit. At close range you can sometimes get lucky due to lag or what not. I do agree that the Lasher is not the best heavy weapon. I believe the Jackhammer takes that title. The Jackhammer (which i affectionally call "The n00b cannon") can easily mow down infantry with ease in most situations. However, when firing down a long hallway, the Lasher will destroy any and all infantry. They have nowhere to run. 4 direct hits with those orbs will kill an agile. And REGARDLESS of what anyone says, the lashing effect is more powerful than you think. I usually run backwards and strafe when fighting someone with a Jack or a Chaingun outdoors, and half the time I emerge victorious with half my life still remaining. I then promptly jack their weapon But there are times when I will pass up a Jackhammer or a Minichaingun (which I call the Fun Gun) because when used correctly, annhilates everyone in my path. All the Lasher needs is a slight speed boost to the orbs. Nothing huge. This will make it more user friendly than it currently is, and casual/newer players will have more fun using it and won't immediately regard it as "ghey" or "teh suck". Remember, it's not the weapon, but the person using it that counts. Last edited by Sniper Jack; 2003-06-12 at 08:46 PM. |

I call it the n00b cannon because it's so easy at point blank with the secondary fire...Gawd, I like that gun. I feel like a walking SWAT Team when I carry it. The minichaingun is still my favorite HA weapon, however. It takes alot of skill to use against anyhting past 50 feet, and something about using such a weapon makes you feel better about yourself.

Did I ever once say anything was overpowered? I posted this because I was sick of people calling the Lasher usless. Flame on, 12 year old, I have work I have to go to. |

I agree (I'm also VS but I ain't on the leaderboards ) anyway, indoors the Lasher is a fine weapon, and outdoors too sicne I always prefer to get close to the enemy so its all good for me, like you said, only a bit mroe speed is need, no more damage, just speed
(does anyone else love that the Lasher clip is like really small? its cool) |

I only use secondary fire on a jackhammer when I'm going for non-sneaky, in-your-face, did-you-get-the-liscence-plate-number-on-that-prowler close range kills. thats about all it's good for. i use reg fire mode the rest of the time.
As for the lasher, if i ever get heavy asault and reinforced again, those are two weapons used well together. the lasher is good at med to close, and the hammer is good at close to violation-of-privacy-rights close. Last edited by Sando138; 2003-06-13 at 02:39 AM. |

Sorry if I came off as sort of an ass, but a remark like that is exactly what I was trying to avoid when I posted this, seeing as how I was trying to show newer players how different the Lasher is compared to the others. The Jackhammer is fine, and the Mini-chaingun may need a slight RoF upgrade, but thats just me talking. All the HA weapons take skill to use effectively, it's just that the lasher requires a bit more practice to get the most enjoyable experience. Also notice that names like the "n00b cannon" is simply just me poking fun at the Jackhammer, since it will pretty much kill anything up close, including myself I also have to give Led props for her mad Jackhammer skillz. I almost cut you in half on that stairwell Led...until next time...

The Jackhammer is far from a "n00b cannon". (As if i haven't heard that term before... ) The "skill" in using the Jackhammer is in finding a resourceful way to actually get close enough to your enemies to make it even remotely effective. At five feet away, sure it's just point and click, but the other weapons are no different. The jackhammer just happens to be the most effective at five feet away. I could just as easily call the Lasher a "n00b cannon" because you don't actually have to hit your enemies in order to do damage. Each heavy weapon has its own strengths and weaknesses, and i actually think that they are quite well-balanced personally.

I don't see what all the fuss is with any of the heavy assault weapons. They are all deadly from close range. Whether it is one or two shots from a jackhammer, a burst of chaingun, or a couple of lashes, the end result is pretty much the same in the end.
