Phoenix as Artillery?

Does it ever work out that 3 or 4 guys can sit behind a hill near a base, launch their missiles into the sky, seek out a target and waste them? En mass it seems like it would rock, though i have no clue what the range/control is like for the weapon. It sounds like a really cool launcher though. What other things have peeps used the Phoenix for effectively?

Except for the faqct that it can only stay in the air for 6 seconds.

I love the phoneix, great to sit behind a rock and hit that max sitting on a base/tower thinking he is safe

There is one base that I do like attacking... forget what one it is.. solsar somewhere... where you can set an ams on a ridge overlooking a base and sit and rain down phoenix and sniper rounds all day

Then again... it has its downsides... if they are farther than the 6 sec limit, cant hit htem... they move very slow (you can outrun them), they have a huge reload time, and they dont do that much dmg....

I recomend all people try them. IMO it is a very balanced weapon, as you will die to anything else in game 1-1 if they are withen range, and will do far less dmg over time than any other weapon in its class.

**however, nothing will ever top my trusty Hammer

I've seen this happen already. I remeber attacking an NC controlled base one time and it seemed that hundreds of missiles were flying over the walls looking for targets. It wound up being a great fight with explosions going off all over the place. It actually felt like you were moving through an artillery barrage.

Too bad that it's completely useless against infantry... You could hit the newly spawned vehicles though...

But otherwise it's a fun weapon, good at taking out maxes from a safe distance, and much easier to hit moving targets than the Decimator, though the Phoenix cannot match its damage or up-close anti-max ability. One of the best things about the Phoenix is that you can take out an AMS parked inside the enemy base by firing over the wall
