I need help

Ok im not big on paying for games monthly but planet side look awsome i need to no a few things...like how would i need to upgrade my pc all i no is that it is a 3 month old gateway with a pentium 4 and 256 ram. i have no idea about the grafic card. all i no is that i can turn the settings on tribes 2 all the way up(lol) i was thinkin about buyin a ge force 4 would that be needed? also how bad is the lag for a person with a 56k? PLEASE HELP (if there is anything i missed please tell me)

eep....

first off, more ram would be nice. another stick of 256 would help a lot, but ram is expensive.

second, if you video card is at least 64 mb and your tight on money i would see no reason to upgrade. since its only 3 months old, it should have a 64 mb vid card, but who knows.

and lastly, 56k is not good, even if your computer is. but still people play ps on dialup, they just have to be careful in laggy areas.

If you stay with 56k don't go in to large scale battles. You know, like 5 people. Just kidding. But seriously, get more RAM and a better connection would be nice.

My 1337 specs:

1064 ram
Raedon 9800 Pro
2.6 P4 with HT
Optical Mouse - This is almost as important as the RAM! A mouse that glides effortlessly is good in busy battles.
Cable Connection - Almost T1.5!

So I rock and bow down before my almighty PCness *Too bad it won't get here till next week!!!!

Thanx 4 all the help i was thinkin about more ram its not that much at best buy i have an optical mouse wich is awsome and if you ever play tribes you can get a game with 60 pepole and a ping about 200-300(which i dont mind my wepons fire a bout a second and ahalf after i click) is the game really jerky with the averge amout of lag 4 some one with a 56k? also how is the new conglomate do in planet side? i like them the best (cool colers and coll beliefs) and one more thing how good is the sniper wepon in ps?

I have a 56k, Min Specs. I can run the game on everything turned low or off decently. Large battles lag me and I stay away from them. 50+ people in one spot lags me, so a 25v25 battle is the absolute limit for me to be able to function. It's really fun even with the occasional lag.

Broadband is all but a requirement. I have DSL and I normally get 60 -90 ms. My problem is RAM, I only have 256, but my new comp should be here with 256 dual channel.....it should be here today, but they screwed up the shipping so it might be another 3-4 days.

Also, the three empires are fairly equal.

NC-Short-Range Punch, each shot does more damage than other empires. Special Weapons include the Jackhammer shotgun and the Phoenix Guided Rocket Launcher.

TR-Lots of Lead, they spew massive amounts of bullets to get the desired effect. Shots do little damage, but the sheer numbers make up for that. Special Weapons include the Mini-Chaingun and the Striker Lock-On Rocket Launcher

VS-Mobility and Accuracy- Their weapons are super-accurate. They also can switch from Anti-Infantry to Anti-Vehicle rounds in a heartbeat. Their MAXes are extra mobile, and their tanks can strafe very quickly. Special weapons include the Lasher "Splash Damage" Orb Launcher and the Lancer "Charge-Up" Laser Rifle.

The Sniper rifle is decent. It kills Agile Armor in one or two hits I believe, Reinforced armor in two or three hits, and don't bother with MAXes. Standard and Infiltration each take 1 hit. It reloads slowly, has a huge recoil, and you have to be crouched and still while firing. It's useless at short range.

Bolt driver kills any infantry in two hits except for infiltrator which it kills in one.

256MB RAM is not enough, 512 is not enough. Get at least 768, it makes a huge diference, especially with CTDs.

You people are so help full (not like the dick heads at most tribes 2 fourms) i live in pa what would be the best sever to play on and on that sever does the new conglomret have any contenits locked at this time?
