Actually, I know many people prefer to be able to actually jump right into the game at maximum potentional and play it for what this game really is - a FPS - without any EQ xp treadmills to gain cert points.

PS and xp should not go together. It makes people not work as a team, it makes people not want to go on ANT runs and help everyone else sitting in the base collecting SOI battle xp, etc. By the time you are BR18, and are trying to get those last two cert points to get combat engie or advanced hacking or a vehicle that you need, you get .25 of a bar of xp per 5k base hack. Sitting around for 40 5k base hacks or possible a few less if you get alot of kills for BR18->19 and then 50 or so to get from 19->20 is even less fun.

I simply don't have the time to play this game anymore so I figure that people who enjoy playing a FPS without having to sqish EQ into the side of it would enjoy my account more than starting at the beginning of an annoying treadmill.

PS Is a level threadmill, thats why I figured that after my 7 days of free trial i'll be bored with the game and ready to play something else :-)

(I Did play in beta, and PS has not become any more interesting with lower XP and flying targets (those bombers))

This game has a lot of potential - lost.

An account of BR20, CR5 will not make you able to kill a BR2 guy if the BR2 knows what he is doing.

All you are buying is certs you woulda have gained in a few weeks of playing anyway.
But most people HATE leveling. Yet this is a FPS so it's fun but adding the leveling part is a down side for me.

There are advantages to selling/buying accounts.
1. Person changes servers and does not feel like leveling another character.

2. Person purely hates leveling

3. Person does not have time to level a character and wishes he/she could just play w/o having to level.

SOE just has a stick up their ass because the customer is making the money not them (SOE).

and they'll be making less money since the new customer will only be playing for 1 month at BR20/CR5 before he gets bored than the person leveling for 2 months to get to BR20/CR5.

Or people don't buy the game at all seeing they have no time to level. It could go many different ways.

Hamma,

When I left my EQ addiction, I was paid $400 in cash for my 56th Cleric account. He is well worth it with the gear he had and the epic weapon. The only reason I could see selling a PS account is to get your $50 bucks back. No one should pay extra for CEP/BEP. If having high ranks did change the price, it would be a TINY amount imho. It just isn't the same as EQ.

Frankly, the bugs lately drove me to the store to buy SWG. I get really tired of rearranging my windows, the crashes, and the glitches. If they don't start fixing some crap quickly, I'm going to be history. I just don't want to be frustrated every time I go to play. It isn't too much to ask. At least I have something to play as a break now when PS pisses me off too much from the problems.

;-)

The irony in that statement is astounding

I knew it would happen! They drove you to SWG because of lack of support or Other reason.

not profitable

I doubt anyone would buy these accounts for much money. On the other hand I've seen accounts for eve-online go for over $300. This has actually created a group of power-gamers, who buy multiple accounts, spend all day and night getting isk and skills, then sell them at market when ripe. PS has an upper lvl limit that can be acheived in a few months of play, not really worth much money either since being BR 20 doesn't give you huge advantages over any other player. IN eve-online, there is a "realistic" economy and skills that take a ridiculous time to learn. Ultimately its crappy game that never gets fun, but you keep thinking it will get more fun when you have the right amount of money and skills, so you keep playing (kind of like working a job you hate that doles out benefits and raises at small increments over several years). Players bid on e-bay based on time they would rather not spend playing a crappy , poor new character, where people who started in the first week of release have a huge advantage. IN PS that advantage of being on early isn't really there. You can still have plenty of fun playing a new char, an leveling up to BR7 can be done in a few days. There's no economy, so no worries about accumulated player items. And the skill system in PS is easy and intuitive and skill points can be sold back and relearned. I really don't see a big demnad being generated for PS accounts, and I cna't imagine

I never found Planetside boring. Theres always a battle you can join 24 hours a day. Theres support and attack certs, vehicles of all kinds. Lots of talented people that have learned where the prime spots are to snipe or deploy AMS for maximum effect.

I think the people getting bored with it are the people that wish that they could sit down and make little campfires and kill animals and somehow magically turn into an "uber lvl 50 paladin wargod - invulnerable to all attacks with a magic bullet repelling armor." The point of the game is that it is a full scale running FPS. Instead of playing one map of Counterstrike, you have an entire continent to hide and fight in, making for strategic front line battles. You WILL die in this game, because you are simply a mortal at approximately the same hp/ap as everyone else depending on their armor or config. Theres always a counter to whatever you're fighting in the paper-rock-scissors way.

I think the reason this game that turns people off is that they are so used to wallhacking, model hacking, awp camping, elite battle mage, group with 20 other people and never die games that they get incredibly frustrated when they continue to die at a normal rate when they play this.

Anyways, I still have that account for anyone interested.

Sadly you are mistaken.

The reason people are put off by planetside is that any action you perform in the game has _N effect on the game as a whole.

You are not able to build permanent barricades nor are you able to destroy buildings, walls, towers, bridges.

People respawn so fast, in the base you are attacking its ridiculous.

There is hardly any strategy involved, or you may attempt do to it with your squad/platoom (not working STILL!) or outfit, but other players (IA-newbies) will distrupt those plans.

You are not able to train with your outfit as you will get grief points for killing other outfit members.

You are not able to CONTROL a Base - I.e. Outfit hacks the base - OUTFIT decides if the doors should open outwards or not. How many times have you been defending a tower and stupid players keep on opening the ground floor doors letting the enemy maxes inside. CC in a base should actually BE a CC - I.e. "Disable Turrets, Lock Doors, Raise Anti-armor barricades".

Even Bridges should have a CC so you could raise them, requiring air / boat units, or VS hovertanks to cross choke points on the map.

The reason people get bored in the game is that, after playing it for 7 days you have done and seen all - except for perfectly coordinated outfit attacks (rare) and you realize that you are paying 13$ a month for something you can play for free. I.e. a non "interactive" world where you have no permanent/visible effect in a environment that is so similar even though the terrain varies. You could rather play Urban Terror (q3), Operation Flashpoint, Soldier of Fortune 2 CTF, Rocket Arena 3, Tribes 2, and it would not cost you anything to play except for the initial purchase fee.

You are paying 13$ so that some users may hog the support lines and for SOE to implement unwanted features while ignoring game-critical bugs such as Spawn Tubes and Infiltrator Suits malfunctioning (although they could say that it would be realistic).

Where are the islands with permanent storm and low-range sighting, what about natural disasters / weather causing attrition damage to units/items. Where are destroyable windows/doors/walls/etc.

You see so much potential in the game lost...

The only reason to continue subscribing after 30 days would be if you like Beating other players (I.e. Winning).

And that "prediction i'm flying up stairs because I jumped and you have to aim in the middle of the air while he shoots you from his position somewhere else" sucks...

ummmm, go to the SWG forums and comapre the amount of bug complaints, poor service, and player frustration to the amount you see on the offical PS forums. If you're goign to SWG 'cause you are a big SW fan, I can understand that, but don't expect less bugs or better service :P

I can definately see an account sold and bought on eBay. For example, what if someone bought one of those stupid 90-day game cards and then decided the game sucked 15 days in to the game? They don't want to loose the rest of their money so they might try to sell the remainder of the account?
