Am I doing the right thing..?

Well, im new to playing TR... I'd like to become a Lightning commander. Is this a good idea? I think this game lacks vehicle play totally, this is what has made me think of it. I am low rank, have barely any certs, but I can get a Lightning and already have a med assault. I don't want to make the wrong decision so early into the game...

Please give me some hints'n'tips.

Lightning is good, scpially when the patch goes thru (360 degree turret). Although I'm partial to the Mini chain-gun, It kicks ass. The best combo is suppresor/ MCG.

You can always sell it later

shrug its up to u, there is no WRONG choice. Do what you like to do. Now if you already know u want to drive a vehicle, then i can give u a lil info about the lightning to help u decide if its the right vech for u.

Good handling
Low armor
Machine guns/ cannon- pretty good at killing mostly nething xcept aircraft
I believe turrets will rotate 360 degress now so u can hit nething no matter where it is.

bsides best combo is striker/chaingun when new patch comes out, until then its cycler/ striker

I believe they are working on it, testing it on the test server with players to eleminate bugs, especially spawn issues. There is no set date that I know of.

Get engineering also when youget teh lightning. Its good to have soemthign to repair with.

Right now, even though i'm nc, i much prefer the chaingun over the jackhammer just because it's more fun to use and actually useful at medium rang.
Best combo as tr=Chaingun/Striker/engi/med/reaver.
Best combo as nc=Jackhammer/Decimator/engi/med/vanguard.
Best combo as vs=Lasher/Lancer/engi/med/magrider.

That's just my opinion, and yes i've played all empires and used all combos.
