I need advice for reducing lag

The game is not enjoyable, 15+ people = massive lag, i type a message, or reload, and the action occurs about a minute after i excecute it. I'm Running 1 gig of corsair pc3200 dual channel, GF4 ti4800SE, 2600+ with a A7N8X mobo, the kicker? 56k... What can I do to reduce my lag so the game is at least enjoyable? I bought the whole damned system so I could play it. Btw, no broadband is available in my area

nothing, there is nothing you can do if you are on 56k but try and get broadband or ISDN.]

you could however make sure there arent any programs using the net in the background like messenging software p2p etc.
