I've been thinking of some new equipment I'd like to see ingame, maybe it could be an expansion?

Flak Cannon :: Anti-Vehicular :: Common Pool
A double-barrelled, water cooled anti-air rifle. Same damage and ROF as the TR Burster MAX, large COF bloom when standing or moving.

Bird of Prey :: 4 certs :: 2 seat fighter jet
Pilot gets forward firing 20mm machine gun. Gunner gets camera guided rockets (ala Pheonix) switchable between armor piercing and shrapnel (anti-infantry) mode.

Humpback :: 3 certs :: 3 seat fighter jet
Pilot and tailgunner get 20mm machine gun, same arcs as Liberator. Middle position can only carry a MAX, who can use his onboard weapon systems, is protected by the vehicle shield but can take personal damage once shields are knocked out.

Queen Bee :: 3 certs :: 6 seat transport
Limited flight ceiling (50 or 100m), pilot has rear firing EMP blaster that detonates any missiles in a 90 degree cone 20m deep behind the ship. Tailgunner has 20mm machine gun and alt fire to flak cannon for anti-air defense with a huge firing arc above and below the vessel. The other 4 passengers are attached via harness to the underbelly, with a limited range of motion, but full access to their infantry weapons and equipment.

Hornet :: 4 certs :: 3 seat gunship
Limited flight ceiling (as above), pilot has front firing 20mm machine gun and rear firing EMP blaster (as above). 2 gunner pods underneath wings switch between rockets (ala Reaver) and 20mm machine guns.

Angel :: 3 certs :: 5 seat* support aircraft
Airborne AMS, featuring spawn tubes and equipment terminals in the passenger compartment. There is a hotdrop hatch that players use to exit the craft by hitting G. However, the back section of the plane can only hold a maximum of 10 soldiers at a time, after which spawning is stopped until someone bails out. The passenger settings allow the pilot to restrict the vehicle to squad or outfit only which also stops other empire soldiers from seeing it on their maps or using it as spawn point. Pilot has no weapons, tailgunner has 20mm machine gun. Secondary gunner has a wide arc belly pod with an EMP cannon (ala CR3 ability, but with a 50m range) to clear deployables, detonate missiles, and disable aircraft engines for up to 5 seconds, making them plunge from the sky. And finally, the ship holds 2 fully enclosed MAX armor passenger seats.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

those are pretty well thought out... i think thered be some balance issues but overall well thought out

Just because something is common pool doesn't automaticly make it balanced.

I see no problem, except that this game would turn into Planetside Air. Mostly, right now, it's mainly grunts running around, with ground vehicles as second, for back up, and air vehicles as support. I doubt SOE will want to change that around. But one or even two of those ideas won't change the balance. I was always wondering why the Tail gun on the lib was a 25mm, and not Flak. The tail gun is only good against anti Air, and hardly even at that. Unless your pilot stations you in mid air, and holds still so you can fire easily at some ground target. Not many pilots do though. They are more worried about bombing runs than tail gunners.

I love those ideas. but would the pilot of the airborn AMS have to stayther constantly? I would say that the pilot gets a recall to Angel so he can drop out and the thing will stay up there and he can recall and get back in the drivers seat fron the respawn area, but make it so it has no guns and cloaks when going under 20 kph

I do like some of your ideas about new aircraft but not so much the flying AMS. I really wish PS would expand further into air. Everyone wants sea and space battles but I think the need to finish the job with air =\

Wat are u talking about, we already have air and ground. We need naval forces and then space forces before air is majorly expanded.

Great Ideas I like the angel but SOE should really go for naval ships and stuff. The space idea is cool but flawed because of the engine i've said this all before but if there was a way to work around it that would be very cool. But I like the idea of adding to the air stuff and still think they should make an escort for the Gal that works better than a reaver hanging back.
