Because dispite being accessable to all empires, a weapon can be overpowered so that absolutely everyone uses it to the point that useing anything else isn't effective/fun.
They are also doing a balance pass on infiltrators and implants soon, if you haven't heard.

They don't need to nerf the flail. It isn't that effective below ground. It isn't that effective without spotters, which I might add, have to be in your squad/platoon. The only place a Flail owns, is on ground where you can see everything. Otherwise you just have to fire at things that are medium range, or you fire blindly. I had the Flail for two hour, and I didn't kill THAT many people. For one, the Flail can't move if you want to fire. For another, you can't hit anything that comes too close. Much like the Sunderer. The Vanguard kills in one shot, I don't hear people yelling NERF NERF. The Flail kills things in one shot, yes, but it's hitting that thing that isn't too easy. If it's moving, you have to judge the angle, and the lead. I spent 20 shots trying to take out a Mosquito that was trying to kill me. IF he had been smarter, he would have gotten above my fire angle, instead of strafing in my fire angle. That would have been death for me. Yes the Flail is strong. It's artillery for fuk sakes. The Liberator, in the right hands, does the same destruction, and is very hard to kill. The Magrider, Prowler, and Vanguard are the same. In the right hands they are capable of turning the tide of a war.
Me and my buddy drove around in his Mag for a good 2 hours around a TR base, shooting anything that moved, and as such, we were able to take the base. The TR couldn't escape the base. We had the tower, we had AMS's close. We even were fortunate to have a Teleport pad right into the core. Our mag efforts kept the nme from getting too far away, and allowed our infiltrators to sneak in and one of the managed to find a hiding spot for a telepad. Things would have been no different if me and my buddy were manning Flails. Well, maybe a little. Unless we each covered a side, the nme would have an escape route. Of course, that would have left each of us weakened to a charge of Prowlers, or Sunderers, or Lightnings. Sure, it sucks getting hit with a Flail shot, and being killed instantly. Don't you think it's not as equally annoying for me to be hit with a Vanguard shell, and dying just as instantly? |

One flail can lock down an entire tower. It one-hit kills infantry even at the outside of its splash radius.
Nerf it or not, it'll be beefy.

The reason I mention it is because I was in the tower, and the doors would not close. There were no backpacks blocking them, but as a Flail rained destruction on us, the doors just stayed open letting the fire inside. It was weird. No cloakers holding them either. Anyone seen this?

I agree fully with Flammey on this, artillery is supposed to be powerful. It's not gonna take down aircraft easliy, but if you get hit by artillery while you're on the ground at medium range from it, you die.
Airvehicles and rocklet rifles take down Flails easily. I managed to stay alive maybe 2-3 minutes when deployed and under fire by such weapons. I got maybe 5-10 kills in that time. |

Flail may be artillery, but artillery is notoriously weak against air attacks. Besides, bringing in a one-hit-kill weapon against MAXs makes them worthless outdoors, and that's where they were supposed to be worth something. I was running along yesterday with 591 armor and full health. Suddenly, me, another max next to me, and about four other guys fall down dead. We were spread over a good 20 meters. Is this artillery or nuclear proliferation here? I don't mind something packing a punch, but if it does, it needs to require some degree of skill, and a large blast radius doesn't.
