There is a LOT of bullshit involved in the game like the worldpass or having to pay extra to get any characters beyond the first.
It also is very large, in-depth and user friendly.
It's graphics are very well done and as of Yet I have seen no FPS issues, memory leaks, lag or random crashes.

Yes, it is. Exactly. It IS executed very well. Better than any other MMORPG out there IMO, but it's still an MMORPG. It's designed to keep you playing and keep you paying. The socializing is the draw for people into games like this. If I run into any "weddings" in this game I swear I will smash my head against the keyboard and burn the game disks.

Squik, the leveling is not what matters in this game, if your playing this just to level and nothign else your playing the wrong game, it even says on the box, FF XI is all about having fun and playing with friends, not becoming level 51249621 and killing all monsters in one hit.

You don't call having to spend ingame credits to move to a server "jumping through hoops?" Every other MMRPG out there lets you pick your own server!

And if I want to "have fun with friends" I will go to the bar. Or if I don't wana spend the money I will have them over to watch a game.

MMRPGs for me are all about character advancement.

So Squick you don't play PS with friends? or you don't have fun playing with them? Spending ingame credits to move to a server does seems like jumping through hoops but then again I have yet to hear about the game lagging for any reason.
