I received Planetside today, installed it and was really excited to play it. I try clicking on Training, it says that it requires a card with 32.0MB or more. Apparently mine has 13.5MB. Last time I checked it was 32.0MB. Is there any way to get that memory back?

Well let's see, last time I checked it was a Rage 128 Pro. Now it seems to have changed itself to a Rage Fury Pro/Xpert Pro 2000. But the odder thing is that Planetside is working now. Well at least the patching is and LaunchPad. I'll keep you updated if there is another error.

On 98 you right click on mycomputer adn click properties and select Device manager.
Once you do that you can find your Vid card Click on its properties and do stuff with its drivers and stuff too. And the easy way to reinstall in 98 is to select the drive in device manager hit delete restart computer when it asks and wait for window to say you have a new device(the old card that no longer has installed software etc) and pop in hte installation disks and install. It will restart a few times during the process, so dont freak. Last edited by Ait'al; 2003-11-18 at 04:26 AM. |

You might want to repost this in the tech forum too. Youll get help quicker. Its really late where i am. lol
this could be alot of things. You could have a different card and a parent (if your young) changed to. It could have been reinstalled as a different card(it asks what card you have on installation and you can say the wrong one). You could have settings wrong. or several other thing. I cant think where to start to figure out wich one is the problem. Last edited by Ait'al; 2003-11-18 at 04:34 AM. |

Standard PCI Graphics Adapter (VGA). Although, it does still say Rage 128 Pro in the Resources tab I think. But it hasn't changed I guess, what I really want to know is how I can possibly get all that video card memory back. A few months ago, I managed to play Morrowind and Tribes 2. Which require 32MB video cards.

Does it say the card is a 32mb card etc or does it say you have 32 MB available?
You could reinstall the card and make sure on hte installation you tell it its the card you say it is. You need the instalation disks/cds for the card. It sounds like somewher down the line someone changed the settings and made your comp think you have a different card. I cant think what ways that would ahve been done though. Like i said you should repost this in hte tech forum. Youll get more help. Last edited by Ait'al; 2003-11-18 at 04:40 AM. |

sorry, i thought it was supposed to be a 128mb card. lol
Your Probably/maybe looking at available ram on the cards thing in properties, wich is sytem memory(the 13.5 thing). Or it is on my Nvidia. As for the message youl have to wait for the response on tech forum. 8) Heads not clear enough to figure out if its basic system memory its asking for or card memory. You might try right clicking on windows desktop(if it sets up in windows like my nvidia) Properties, Settings, advanced settings, Looking for a tab for your card, go to its Directx settings and change the ram usage setting to the asked amount. I dont know where those setting are for your card, but they might be there too. Edit: Duh, if you are looking at availabel system ram, those settings may be near where your looking too.
