Need suggestions.

I want to use my pc as a multi-track recorder for guitar, keyboards, etc. What's the easiest way? What software is good? What all do I need?

Anyone do this?

I use an old version of Soundforge for all of my audio mixing, really simple program to use, but very powerful aswell.

Also just a tip, don't bother with any of those real time effects processors for your PC. Your sound card has far too much latency, and even set as low as it possibly can go on a very nice machine you still have a very noticeable delay between when you pluck a string and when the finished sound comes out. If you need an FX processor just keep your eye at Guitar Center for deals on an FX processor, I got a very nice one for $300.

I have an Alesis MidiVerb4 and luff it.

Take a look at this little Tascam US-122 and tell me what you think.

  • EVERYTHING you need!
  • Fully Mac and Windows compatible
  • 2 XLR phantom-powered mic inputs with inserts
  • 2 line-level ins switchable to guitar level
  • 16 channels of MIDI I/O
  • Adjustable zero-latency monitoring
  • Cubasis and GigaStudio recording/sequencing software
  • 2 line outs with level controls
  • Headphone out with level control
  • Self-powered through USB
  • Rugged steel construction
  • Full range of drivers
Looks pretty damn easy for 200 clams.

Cubase/Cubasis is damn good software

Currently using Adobe Audition (Cool edit pro, Adobe bought it) for it's simplicity and ease of use
