Port allocation on Asus A7N8X

I just got some 5.1 surround sound speakers, that I'm using with the onboard sound on my mobo. The sound is amazing, but it takes up what used to be my old mic imput, leaving me mic-less. Does anyone know if it's possible to assign the mic to another port, or if there's such a thing as a mic card?

only sulotion i can think of is if there is a mic header on your Mobo(for use in a fron bessle for instance) you can use that still (possibly) the only other solution is a new sound card

Huh well I dunno about the normal version of that board but I have the Deluxe, and I have room for 5.1 and mic. How many jacks do you have on the onboard?

I have the deluxe too, but the sound will not work out of the center port (light orange) and in the sound manager is gives the option to redirect it to the mic in (which it doesn't work otherwise).

Yes, but I can't get it to recognize the mic. Is there a certain place to turn it on there, or to make that imput your mic's imput (as opposed to the microphone imput)?

I'd really like to avoid getting a new sound card since to equal the quality sound I'm getting from my onboard I'd have to spend way more than I want to.

Right now on my nFOrce controller control panel I have imput set to the line in option in both boxes. But that wasn't working as far as I can tell.

Thanks for any help at all.

*edit* Right now that one is taken also. My actual "front" port isn't wanting to play at all, but using the line in allows the center channel to work. I have no idea why.

you can get a good 5.1 SB for 30-50, and a Audigy 2 ZS card is 100 or so, plus you get better perfomance do to less cpu being used

Asus has a very wierd jack system on there boards each one seems to be able to do the work of the others if need be, or atleast mine did it that way but is gave annoying messages if they were in the wronge slot even if it worked

OK, messing around with it, I can get L,R,RL,RR, and the sub to work, but not the center, but I can get the mic to work. I'm using the speaker set up Wizard, but it's not helping at all (in fact it's the problem most likely).

What brand speakers do you have? I've always had that same problem with the center speaker on my logitech Z680 setup, it never works. Although I just now got it to work on that test thing in the control panel, but its very very quiet.

Z5300's.

I think it's the mobo and not the speakers, I can get the center channel to work fine without the rear ones.

OK, if I uncheck Dolby surround encoding, everyone but the center works, if I check it, just the front 3 work.

That's got to be the problem. But what can I do about it? From what I can tell, there's no good way to get all of them to work, and leave the mic port open. The way it is now, everyone but the center (arguably the most important) work.
