Probably Half-Life. Il-2 Sturmovik: Forgotten Battles, Freelancer, and Quake 2 get Honorable Mentions, along with PlanetSide.

The gun kata treats the gun as a total weapon, each fluid position representing a maximum kill zone, inflicting maximum damage on the maximum number of opponents while keeping the defender clear of the statistically traditional trajectories of return fire. By the rote mastery of this art, your firing efficiency will rise by no less than 120%. The difference of a 63% increase to lethal proficiency makes the master of the gun katas an adversary not to be taken lightly.

Grim Fandango wins so, so hard.

We should see about fixing that CD so that we can play it again. And by "so we can play it again", I mean, so I can play and you can tell me what to do next.

Flight Simulator, obviously, rocks too.

PSfuckinO infuckingdeed. so many memories with my clan. all that Pking, and going BSOD because of them, and so on, damn.

and Xenogears ties with that
Starlancer is prolly the best plane game ive ever played.
TA was fucking spectacular
Homeworld2 is a aweomse RTS as well
MW2 mercs, crappy graphics, but the best MW over all
MW3 good graphics, tough gameplay, at times, and plays just like MW2 but with a few changes.

Well if I had to pick just one, it would be StarCraft hands down. StarCraft = best RTS ever.

TA and SimCity 2000 are close 2nd and 3rd for my favorite game ever. TA was awsome, but StarCraft is just slightly more fun in my opinion. FYI, there is a korean company currently working on Total Annihilation 2. Search google for Total Annihilation 2 and you should be able to find it.

The old text adventure games rocked too. A Mind Forever Voyaging, Planetfall, Lurking Horror and of course the Zork series.

Funny to remember how much euphoria those games inspired when home computers were just getting going.

And to think Infocom made all those classic games trying to fund some half-assed database project.

Ultima IV was pretty sweet too.
