As long as %90 of the grunts have DL and cloakers die in under a second to any weapon, I don't think much could be done to make them overpowered. They already have the spiker, which is MUCH more potent than the suppressor could ever hope to be, yet no one complains.

The Suppressor is a great weapon if you're not a powergaming big-bang whore. It could be a little better, and drop the tracers and become a quiet silenced weapon, and then it would be an awesome commando weapon. |

Why not let cloakers run around with JH's? That would be fun, and balanced! /not Edited for spacing. |

I can imagine people dying, and decimator flying, while your frantically looking around an empty screen, cursing you didn't have Darklight....

Now, adding a silencer and removing the tracers would really make it appealing. It'd give it some CQ usage while making it a bit more equal to the other assault rifles.

The hit indicator isn't meant to represent an on board targeting system which triangulates the direction of fire and visually projects it onto your retina. It represents getting hit with a bullet and knowing what part of you was the impact point. I don't think it is unreasonable that we keep this system that lets us know whatever is slamming into us and making us scream in pain, is hitting us in the back.

No hit indicator would greatly overpower the weapon in terms of its sniping potential. Being completely unaware of where you're being shot from is too much. You couldn't retaliate if the guy was a reasonable distance away, and if you can't retaliate, you can't exactly fight back, or even effectively take cover. There's a reason why Bolt Drivers have a big, orange tracer.
Alternatively, they could turn the Surpressor into a silenced SMG of sorts, like how it's suppose to be. Crank the clip up to 60 or so, reduce the damage per round, make it fire much faster, and make it less accurate or have a greater CoF bloom, while at the same time reducing the noise it makes when firing. I personally always wanted the Surpressor to be a good weapon. You know, before I play PS. I envisioned it being useful for stealthy strike teams in Agile armor, infiltrating a base to do some sabotage or capture missions. I think it would be neat if it were made like that. Make it real quite and reasonably effective at close range. That'd also make people who spawn in a captured base/tower more effective, as they would have a weapon which is suitable for indoor environments. Last edited by Warborn; 2004-01-28 at 03:50 AM. |
