I waver between the Gauss (my favorite gun) and the Punisher, because of its versatility. I don't think the Punisher as an assault rifle is all that wonderful - it blooms too fast and the range is substandard - but the ability to jam tanks, burn groups of enemies and bomb other things is nice.

People with just punch a medkit if you hit them with a frag, and plas does do more damage over time, frags just annoy maxes a bit more.

GO with plasma. But Incomp, I disagree about rocklets. They allow you to engage at longer rangers, so I normally keep one box of rocklet ammo so I can attack vehicles with it at and hit at long ranges. But you're right, they aren't very good nonetheless.

My vanu's standard grunt loadout is rexo with a sweeper and a punisher, it's great for clearing rooms with plasma nades. My particular favourite is control rooms, open the door pop around the corner and launch a plasma at the console, then back out the door again. Switch to sweeper while they charge forwards (not able to see me yet) and unload as soon as they get to the doorway. Sometimes they're already damaged, and one plasma nade is all it takes to finish them off. CC clear, move in for the hack.

I got tired of taking the time to translate Pork's (many) posts into normal english. I was spending more time reading his posts than other's (sometimes even longer) posts, yet his are almost never relevent to the conversation. Frankly, I'm suprised he hasn't been banned yet. Anyways, don't encourage him, just ignore him guys. You're just playing his game when you reply to his incoherent babblings and on top of that, you're adding more off-topic posts (like mine, oh the irony). Ok so that's going to be my last post ever regarding Pork, back on topic:

I love the punisher, it's perfect for my style of play. I prefer to crouch with my personal shield rather than run all over the place with my surge, and when it comes to the punisher, your best bet is to crouch to minimize the humongous cone of fire on that thing. For the grenade launcher I bring along plasma (loaded on all my punisher favorites) and sometimes a box of Jammers. Frags are ok, but less functional (I don't have darklight, so plasmas are my cloaker detectors).

The only time I cary a Punisher is when I'm laying down mines and don't want to cary boxes of ammo. My minelayer favorite is saved with a plasma nade loaded in it, and the inventory nothing but ACEs.

On the rare occasions that I run across some random nme lurking about the base, I'll fire a few shots, then without taking my finger off the trigger I'll switch to the nade and shoot it, then switch back to firing bullets with a fresh and tight CoF.

Only time is use the punisher is for the rapid-fire-grenade bug (does no dmg btw) to annoy others during a base cap. empire ma/ha+thumper in rexo is 2x more effective .

If your forced to shoot rockets out of your punisher at a vehicle, your most likely fucked.

It isn't a bad weapon, decent substitute for a thumper if you don't have SA and a back door needs spamming from the base walls.

Punisher was my Medium Assault weapon of choice back when I played NC, except when I could loot a Cycler. When I switched to TR I used it a lot less because damn, that Cycler rocks ass. I used the grenade->autofire tactic constantly.
