CTD's all the time. Overheating?

I get CTD's all the time with my new computer.... Could it be overheating?

The recent one restarted my computer...

The strange thing about these CTD's is that they just jump out to the desktop REAL quickly, no unloading whatsoever, no harddrive working, nothing... (might just be that the computer is fast).

Yeah Ps does that sometime, if you not OCing you shouldn't have heating problems(except if you have very poor cooling, liek a stock HFS on a 3.2 that is only cooled by 2 120mm 20cfm fans, like my friend that just putt together this sweet system).

Well, it's a Shuttle chassi, with a heatpipe cooling system. It's attached to the Processor, and got 4 pipes leading to the main fain.

First it wasn't attached correctly, so I could hardly get to the Windows installer before the computer shutdown (and there was a red light on the motherboard). But these CTD's arn't the same, they doesn't turn of the computer, only PlanetSide.

Could it just be that the heatpipe isn't correctly placed on the processor?

no you would see a CPU failed message most likely, and it would reboot. Your not overheating. try updating your drivers ifg you havent done so already.

Also about how often? A crash a day(in ps that is), or maybe twice is normal

Well how often varies. At first I could play for 30 mins to an hour. And then BAM! CTD. And sometime's about every 5 to 15 minutes...

I had one, where I just CTD'd, got back into the game, and then into the HART (it arrived as I got there). And then BAM! CTD again!

Ok, what drivers should I update? I've updated my sound card, network card, video card etc.

Does this happen with any programs other than planetside? When did this start happening?

Also, try reinstalling or updating DirectX.

Ok... it didn't help. Crashed after 5 minutes.... didn't notice a Temp change though. But that could be because PlanetSide takes 100% of the processor, so MMB never updated... I don't know...

It blows anyhow
