Usefulness of shotguns?

Hey Venoxile, remember your part of a team, you arent going to be taking bases alone, and everyone doesnt have to carry a weapon for every situation. A few people can carry phoenixs and a gauss, and a few can carry Jackhammers/Gauss. Thats why I like the Vanu, they have the Beamer which can be used as an anti-vehicle weapon in a pinch and everyone can carry it.

Ludio, most Vanu weapons can be used as anti-armor if they need to be. They don't have AP rounds like other weapons do. The fact that Vanu weapons can turn to AP at the click of a button is good, because of the versitility, but bad, because it's less efficient than using projectile based weapons. An Agile with a full backpack of AP rounds using a slug thrower will get more shots than an Agile with a full backpack of energy rounds using a Vanu weapon switched to AP mode.

That is true Warborn, but as you said they both have their ups and downs. And yes AP attacks on Vanu weapons use more energy than regular ones.
