flares

probably been said a million times before but,

hows about flares for you mosq or reaver boxes could be same size as the rockets so you would have to make a trade off but could be worth it.

it would be cool but there shuld still be a 50/50 chance of getting hit. As in... if the guy who has you locked on has line of sight then the missle shuld still reach its target. However..if the missle follows you past his field of vision the flares shuld be used/ shuld be effective.

Countermeasures (like flares) are being discussed by the Devs as a "post-BR20" ability. I strongly disagree with such a shift being BR20 only, but that's just me.

Not only are there going to be countermeasures, but counter-countermeasures. So, we'll see in however many months it takes to get it all ironed out.

That would be really cool, just like in Tribes 2.

I don't agree with it only being post BR 20 though.

No. What hes talking about is a fake target that would be shot from the reaver/mossie and the missles that are locked onto the reaver/mossie instantly target the flare instead of the aircraft.

You would only have a limited amount of course. Maybe 3 per ammo box or so.

Read it again. Flares to detonate a locked on missile before impact.

As a pilot though, I have to say I think this would make aircraft overpowered. To avoid missiles, I can usually just hit my burners and drop to the weeds. Bingo. No more lockon. However, if there will be CCMs for the enemy to utilize against me, it might be pretty cool.

Oh I see , thanks for telling me. And yeah I think that's a good idea but using your afterburners to get behind something works just as well.

Hah, not for NC sparrow lock on.

I swear those things move right around the trees and hunt you down.

I don't think they'd make the countermeasures 100% effective, but they'd give a chance for an evasive manuever to actually break the lock. The problem is that aircraft currently have to hug the ground to avoid the enemy, that's of no help to a plane flying at the flight ceiling. Just a small thing to let pilots have a chance to be in the air.

Plus, it'd be a Burster buff, since their munitions can't be jammed. There. A TR MAX buff...ya happy now?

Personally I hate the starfire more than anything. By the time you see the first shot coming on radar there are already 20 in the air >_<

I do love playing my sparrow occasionally though. Not really because I like the suit all that much, but because killing dumb people amuses me. I will never understand what could make any reaver pilot think it's a good idea to hover i place and try to rocket spam an AA max from 150m away /boggle
