First of all, I think the photo is fake. If it's NOT, that fucking troop needs to be beaten with a stick.

Second of all, we don't have matching equipment, Sentrosi. The military is primarily a woodland camo pattern-based force. The standard uniform is the green Battle Dress Uniform (BDU), not deserts. The desert BDU is issued when troops are going to the Middle East. All of the TA-50 (battle rattle) is made with the woodland camo feature in mind. So it's not something that we can help. Most of the flak vests, Gor-tex, kevlar covers, and almost all of the battle rattle (web belt, suspenders, etc) is all woodland (green) pattern. There are very limited supplies of desert TA-50 and they are all in use.

usually the first to get dibbs on all desert are the 102 Airborne Army Rangers, since they are primary on raids (i think it is 102, not sure tho, should know cause my cousin is in it)

That's the 101st Airborne (Air Assault). The Rangers fall under the 75th Ranger Regiment, and they are two separate entities. And no- usually the first to get dibs on all-desert is the unit that goes in first. It's not always 101st, it can be 1st Cavalry Division, 3d Infantry (WOOT!), 4th Infantry, or even those primadonna pansies in the 82nd Chairborne.

the 82nd came pretty late in the game, and i gotta agree with the primadonna comment, all my cousin does when he writes back is how lazy they all are, and how much they bitch all the time, but, according to him, they got dibbs on them

Well it's not like there are five sets of them, we have enough to outfit a couple of divisions. But you also need to bear in mind, there's more than just Army units there.

The 82nd had its hey-day in World War Two. Jumping out of planes into combat was never used again, and now all they do is practice jumping and then when they deploy, they land at secure sites.

I worked with a brigade from the 82nd on several occasions, and I was tasked out to support one of their missions. I worked with their intel battalion (not impressed) and I also took a small team to run with an infantry battalion (slightly impressed). They're a bunch of overeager, egotistical can't-cut-it jackasses who are outmoded, outdated, and outgunned on virtually any battlefield except perhaps one fighting a bunch of angry kindergartners. I have little respect for anyone in the 82nd *ESPECIALLY* when they start waving that "All-American" bullshit in my face. They should stick to parades and demonstrations, and only ones without alcohol.

I think we all understand that standard BDU is green, but maybe it should be changed to beige. I mean, when has there been a conflict in a wooded area? They should know better than anyone that when shit is going down, it's going down in the desert.

Notice how the guy doesn't have a rifle, or a 9mm, or cheverons, or the logo of his branch of the service on his hat, or a designation of rank on his collar.....
