What is going on in planetside?

I thought I would get an opinion on what has happened to me during my latest 15 minute session. I started playing Saturday evening after a couple of days off from the game. I started with no grief points, shot down one reaver and got into one large battle inside a tower which we lost. I received 9 grief point during that enemy rush and also shot one plane down. I'm almost a BR16 so I thought I would play a while and try to accumulate some points. After returning to sanctuary, i found I had over 500 grief points. I left the game and immediately returned with the 500 points still present along with the stupid message to be careful in battle. I have played over 2 months without having more than 30 grief points, especially since I hardly was in a battle. My question is what is with this game and how long will it take for this to return to a normal level.

The longer you go in game without getting any grief points, the faster they go away. I once got 500 grief or so because someone parked in front of the vehicle terminal and I didn't get control of my vehicle fast enough. I plowed right under the guy and the grief just skyrocketed. I continued to played a few hours without hitting anyone and when i logged off I was down to around 150. I usually carry 0-20 points of grief. I'm pretty good about watching where I shoot.

1 point per 10 minutes no exceptions. Lock doesn't happen till 1000 so don't really mind your 500. I don't care about grief, I've come to the conclusion that it happens to the best of us when you have some n00b running in front of you or the ever popular, I've been run over and get 50 grief, I love that one.

And to answer your question 500 grief takes 3.47 days or 83.3 hours.

I know it used to be 1 pont per 10 minutes, but it seems faster than that. I've heard people claim it's now double that, which would be 1 point per 5 minutes. Haven't tested it myself...

Here's a hint- log into Sanctuary. Go climb into a wall turret at a Gun Tower (since they have zero use and are out of the way). Step away from the keyboard (go AFK), go make a sandwich and watch Ed, Edd, and Eddy. When you come back, you should be a lot less on the grief side.

it just goes down over time. i remember building up to 1000 grief only because i was getting sick and tired of me empire always getting in the way of my fire to get the kill. then when i kill them they get pissed at me. so one day i decided not to care and ended up with 1000 grief.

and for the record, that was one of the most fun days i've ever experienced in planetside.

I'm pretty sure that is it, however I agree I have seen it disapating faster. Maybe they actually reward good behavior now? Possibly by logging off it goes a bit faster but I have reached 1000 a few times and for it all to go away takes about a week, at the least 5 days.

It does disapate faster. The longer you go in game without creating any grief, the faster it will start to go away. The moment you cause any more grief, it will slow down again to a trickle. It's incremental.

Or you could just walk inside a building in a sanctuary.
