Yeah, if you looked at the population ingame, it was probably sitting around 20-24%. I have been seeing this trend:
TR 20-24% VS 20-28% NC 25-45% Depending on the time of day and day of the week. The problem is the NC population is usually well out of proportion to the other two empires. As a result, what usually happens is that 2nd in population defends against the NC and attacks the 3rd place empire. The NC attack the 3rd place empire. The 3rd place empire ends up losing all it's bases. Eventually, a lot of NC flee the game from boredom (lack of opportunity to fight/late at night) and the 3rd place empire makes a comeback, recapping their territories. Generally this switches between VS and TR, though I have seen TR getting a few more 3rd place population days than VS. Note to original poster: This isn't about balance, it's about populations. On Markov, it's entirely different (TR is usually 1st place, with NC/VS getting the 2nd place treatment). However, your right, it shouldn't happen ever! So much for the population modifiers!!!!!

Ok, so I goofed on thinking it was Pop. Regardless. There should never be a time when a player cannot get to a battle. In this case when I took the screen shot, All but two conts are locked to the other empires, the one cont where TR had a base was Poplocked, and TR had just been pushed off of the second. Thus creating a situation where a subscriber was forced to sit in the sanc and wait for who knows how long.

Agreed. It's definitely about pop balance. Sure there's times of day that any one empire could have the most. What it does display is the inherent design problem of broadcast warpgates. Any attempts to even start an offensive by having to HART in, were quickly routed. The ease of mobility through the gates for the controlling empire makes it too easy to fend off an attack. The lack of a permanent link to a continent and facility tonight made many paying subscribers not able to play. For those who would say create another empire character to play, don't. That's a whole different subject and I'm not about to join the "4th" empire.
