No doubt but in its life time and still today it remains next best thing to BF2.

.7 was the last official DC release. BF2 is coming out in a bit anyway, March probably

no way. Desert Combat is one of the best mods out there. besides, who would play DC when BF 2 comes out.

O well, Im very upset to hear that, but Id rather have em working on Battlefield 2 then Desert Combat.

No, I mean the very implementation is half-assed. The classes aren't that interesting, same for the maps. The vehicles, while different, aren't as good as the vehicles in BF:V.

Just not a great mod at all.

You guys seem not to totally understand...

I work on a few BF mods too, and i can tell you - DC has had an immeasurable high influence. They raised the bar ridiculously high. The weapons are all amazing modelled and skinned, but besides that, they did it all, at the start, without the MDT's, which make it so much easier now. Without them, mods, like my own WDW, could get away with having crappy skins and slightly dodgy coding [though our coding is for the most part very good] - but as i said, they raised the bar. I can say with little doubt that without DC, Forgotten Hope, Surreal and all the other quality mods would not be as good by any means.

Their custom textures on their maps bring them to life so much. Compare Basrah's edge with, say, the buildings in El Alamein and you'll see what i mean.

DC was probably the best thing to happen to battlefield and although not the first nor last mod, it definitely brought the public to see what could be done with the game. And anyways, why would u compare a mod to a game when only one side is gettin paid?

I understand your point. I'm simply saying that I'm glad it boosted the BF1942 mod community up, but I didn't really like it as a game at all.

THAT SAID, I am looking forward to Battlefield 2. Jeeze, disagree with you guys in the least and it's out with the torches and pitchforks.
