Third Person view

i think third person is stupid in a FRIST person shooter. You shouldn't be able to hid around a courner with a gun and pop out when someone comes along. When your flying/driving a vehicle its good to have to know where your landing or if you can back up without running a friendly over. but on foot there should only be frist person view. if you want to gaurd a hallway, find some cover looking down the hall, not hidding around the courner. I never use third person on foot because its cheap. No i haven't been killed several times by someone with a jackhammer from around the courner. its a First person shooter, not First/Third Person Shooter. half the fun if turning a courner not knowing if its empty or filled with badies.

I'm always a little bemused by people who freak out over this i just dont see the problem with it. Its something available to everyone, so who cares.

besides, if you use 3rd person to see if someones coming, by the time you see them, theyre already shooting you. and have you ever tried to aim in 3rd person?

Well, I've tested this before where I defended a tower alone using 3rd person against 5-6 uncoordinated enemies. Once someone does the 3rd person strategy, he'll do it again most likely so flush him out with grenades, it's not that hard.

Well, if they were to remove third person, they would have to add stuff like footsteps and leaning.

Towers are the only place I see the advantage, and I see lots of people use it in towers. As I mentioned in my Dark Light thread, I think it gives too large an advantage to allow Dark Light with it as it makes no sense to allow people to check behind them without looking around for cloakers (hello, snipers!).

I wouldn't mind them removing 3rd person for infantry as long as they keep it for vehicles.

They have footsteps. Turn up your ambient sounds. I use those instead of DLV and Audio Amp...

I can HEAR a cloaker creep past me, I can HEAR DLV, I can HEAR someone load their weapon, and I can HEAR jumping....

I will admit to using 3rd person cheaply to run like a scared rabbit from the Lasher. It's got to piss a Lasher user off something fierce to spam where I was standing and not see a lick of damage on me. I don't even feel remotely bad about it considering how often I've died as an infil due to the lash on shots not even aimed at me.
