Jaged's answer is correct also.
Both ropes each have a total burn time of 60 min but each have different burn rates. Since both have the same burn time, burning one completely (60 min) and by quartering (fold rope in half then fold one of the halfs, mark the quarter length) the second one and burning to the quarter mark (15 min) will still give the total burning time of 75 min. |

Now, if you lay the ropes at right angles to eachother with the end of rope two making contact a quarter of the way up rope one (measured by folding rope one in fourths). Then light the short end of rope one. Rope one will burn for 15 mins before the flame ignites the end of rope two. Rope two will then burn the last 60 mins while rope one burns out. Using all your resources and nothing more. Not sure if this violates the whole "linear" burning thing, but it's the best I can think of. L8

so, let me get this straight, the ropes but the same amount of time if you burn them from end to end or if you light the entire thing on fire at once?
I'm confused, I think I'm over thinking this I think . . . . I think I need to go to bed
