Hey all ya'll at PSU! Ok, a question for the veterans:
Do you remember the Digital Marines? One of the first Terran Republic outfits on emerald, and, at one time, the largest?

If so, were you in it? Do you know someone who is? If you answered yes to any of these questions, this post may interest you. For the new kids, this is sort of a history lesson, for the old guys this is a walk down memory lane:

I'm trying to set up a one night reunion of the guys from the Digital Marines. A night of massive ownage, and war stories. If you were ever a member, you're invited. I got a hold of some of the top notch guys, and even have a few officers from the group. They're all for it.

I don't hav a date, yet, but I will post one when I figure out how popular this will be.

SO: A shout out to all the DiM vets, and on a side note all the guys who remember the Emerald Alliance. yes....we owned back in the day...when i get my hands on IIIHomieIII...ima kick his ass

Yeah why don't you say all the info? Everyone wanted to hold hands and jump off the Cery bridge, Digital Marines heard about it and saw the opportunity for some kills, so we tested the new Liberator. Everyone jumped off anyway, or got bombed.

What exactly are you agreeing to?
Why do you call them trolls?
Please give a reason for your opinion being important.

way to go hypocrite...if I wanted an assinine remark, I would have went to the OF. Where were YOU when DiM helped creat what little organization TR-E has today?

as for what happened to them:
A lot of them went to SW:G, especially the leadership, so the rest of us went are own ways, and a bunch of us went to LiquidForce...where less than 80 of us managed to hit top 20 charts CONTINUOUSLY for four months...

so yeah, now that I have delt with the guy with the assinine remarks, does anyone know of any former DiM members, or were, themselves, DiM members?

Just because Incompetent is from CDL and has been around here since PSU was born does not grant him some sort of exaulted status around here. He stated an opinion, Cauldron stated his. Can't you (Hezzy) just read the post and carry on without whipping out some crackback?

Seriously people.

Not to piss in your cheerios, but if you're talking about the Emerald Alliance, I believe record has it that I founded the Emerald Alliance along with a guy named =NCG=BigBro after the AGO collapsed following retail - DragonWolves can back me up on that, they started the AGO and my outfit was a member, along with C22, 42nd Fire Ants, NCG, and a few other outfits.

DiM came into the Emerald Alliance long after it had been running - when I took an LOA from Planetside, Emerald Alliance had 40 outfits. The level of organization that they created is what ruined the EA (breaking up manpower according to certs, under a leadership that appeared to be exclusively Digital Marines) and also ruined its reputation (because the bridge bombing put a black mark against the entire alliance), and that's why we renamed it from EA to ULTRA.

But if I misinterpreted your comment, please explain to me then what the little organization that TR-E has, that DiM was and/or is responsible for.

I don't know why you think DiM was the complete reason EA fell Firefly, hey if the other outfits didn't like it then why didn't they say anything and vote us out? They liked what we did, and when we did it, they just seemed to not have a public opinion anymore.

I didn't ever say they were the complete reason. The decisions that Homie made were what caused the Emerald Alliance to fall apart. And the reason I "think" this is as follows.

When I returned from a deployment and logged in, I volunteered to take charge again after seeing virtually no coordination. The forums were empty, the voice server was used by one outfit, and the front page of the website hadn't been updated in a long time. The so-called "field command structure" listing showed all DiM officers. I asked everyone that I came into contact with what their reasons were for leaving. Almost unanimously, I was told "The current set-up and the current leadership". I was told by nearly everyone I talked to that Homie's leadership style was more of a dictatorship. A few people whom I asked didn't say this, but these were only a few. When I started looking for outfits to ally with, I was told (before I could even explain the new version) by quite a few people that their outfits would not be "broken up" during operations and their "troops will not be subjected to second-rate leadership", among other things. This is in direct reference to the field command structure.

When I attempted to explain that the alliance was there to work for the good of Emerald TR, I was told "Is that why you bombed the community gathering bridge jump?" That single event was such huge negative publicity. It was at the recommendation of an outside party, DDBQ of Enforcers, during an alliance meeting, that we completely scrapped the Emerald Alliance altogether and revamped it as its current version - because everything associated with that alliance had turned into garbage, due to those two events.

So - it wasn't DiM as the complete reason - it was decisions made by the senior command of the alliance. Which happened to be almost exclusively DiM.

And let me say this - I have nothing against Homie or DiM. I fought with them on occasion, and I was impressed. But that has nothing to do with the way the alliance was led.

Once again, every member of that council voted Homie as overall leader, except one.
Everyone of those people never spoke to have a problem.
Hundreads of people from ULTRA outfits told us we did a great job after that bombing, but when we started getting heat, they just seemed to not have an opinion any more.

Firefly I'll send you PMs to discuss the rest.

I dunno what everyone else's problem was, but I'm pretty renowned for speaking my mind. Rest assured we won't have any of THAT happening.
