I am in WoW beta as well as EQ2 Beta. Trust me, judging by the current states of each beta, WoW will kill EQ2. EQ2 is being rushed *so* much right now that I'll be surprised if ANYTHING works at retail. SoE is just pushing hard for fast money for a game that will be broken upon release.

Blizzard, on the other hand, will NOT release WoW until it is done, period. They have never rushed a game.

Now, that's not to say that's what I'm basing my judgement on. After playing both games (both WoW and EQ2) I can tell you that WoW is better than EQ2. EQ2 is just not good. They've dropped the ball, but are going to release it anyway because they know they can get enough revenue off of the "Everquest" name.

That pretty much sealed the deal for me. Besides PS, every other game managed by SOE has been absolutley terrible in game experience, and in customer service. Blizzard's got a solid trackrecord, so I think they deserve my money.

Accually VU is forcing blizz to pick up the pace a fair bit.

I believe it. VU are a bunch of jerks. They're French too, if that means anything else.

Anyway, being a European company, they have a strong aversion to the depiction of the killing of children, which is against the law in a few countries in europe. In Warcraft 3, you can slaughter human children during a couple of undead missions. Because of this VU has a little beef with Blizzard, despite being their publisher.

As far as I'm concerned, Blizzard should just tell VU to screw themselves and find another publisher. If that happened, any publisher that doesn't pick them up obviously doesn't want to make billions of dollars and might as well shoot themselves now.

(Due to contractual rights, I know this won't happen, but it would be hilarious).

In response to blizzard not rushing anything, its already been stated, but Vinvedi is pushing for a release by Thanksgiving, or chirstmas. As VU has made a statement but blizzard neither confirms or denies it everyone thinks that a Code freez will happen in 1-2 months and it will ship around cristmas. Also, keep in mind I am an avid blizzard fan but not to a blinding point, blizzard has never done an MMO befor. While this probably wont effect the gameplay much, it could have an impact on other things. Im currious how they will handle balancing issues. Older RPGS were GROSSLY unbalanced. I almost shudder to think of Diablo2.

However all of thier RTS's have been rather balanced IMO. So we shall see.

eq2 = no PvP

bottom line. WoW it is.

not to mention eq2's glossy doll characters. and the art style is just not my style.

Your kidding right. It USED to be the currency of b.net. I quit b.net a long time ago, cuz the game got REALLY boring and I got tired of sorces telling me I was using a speed hack with my necro. Tahts some nice armor SDM but the claws are only "meh" what about bul kathos? Or whatever those uber eliete rare claws are. I still know how to dupe in that game. Blizzard still did a good security job on a game that wasnt an MMO.
