Interesting weapon

Here is an article about EMPs.

http://www.newsmax.com/archives/arti...6/183535.shtml

My dad and I were disscussing the posibilities that this article presents. What if a hydrogen bomb was detonated above the US? What would hapen afterwards, and how would people deal with it.

There is a new and revised government report on how to survive a nuclear attack. It was revised in 1999 if i remember correctly. I will try to find the document and post a link, it's quite interesting.

The TV show "Dark Angel" is set in Post EMP America. The viery first show started off with Jessica Alba narrating a segment talking about Terrorists denoting an E-bomb, and screwing America.

Dark-Angel's scenario isn't with the EMP from a hydrogen bomb. If it was, every radio, car, and pretty much every mode of communication that they use would have been made compleatly useless with no hope of repair.

Dark Angel's E-bomb was probably a relatively small one detonated at a statigec location. We wouldn't be able to organize well enough to form a regeime.

It's kind of moot seeing as how hydrogen bombs are infinitely more difficult to build than an atom bomb. Even if a country has an atom bomb, they're still quite a ways off from obtaining an H-bomb capable of disabling an entire country. All the countries that already have H-bombs are on good terms with the U.S.

Tight, EMPs have always impressed me, first in games...now in life, when I was younger i thought they were theoretical.

Except that Russia doesn't have great security around it's bombs which could be stolen. I'm not saying that it will happen, just wondering about if it did. After all, we are only recently on good terms with China.

If any country was hit with EMP bombs, i doubt they would be able to get back on their feet. All their stock markets would be down, no transportation, everything that we rely on in todays world would be obsolete. That would suck

If you can steal a 30-foot missile capable of making it into outer-space then you deserve whatever it is you took.

All I know is what the TV tells me.

In the year 2019 the U.S. has become a third world country in the wake of the Pulse - an electromagnetic shockwave unleashed by nuclear terrorists in 2009. This is Max's world, an unforgiving place even for a genetically engineered soldier like her. On the run from her creators and constantly in search of her past, Max joins forces with the idealistic cyberjournalist "Eyes Only." She's a revved-up girl trying to make a run-down world a better place.

Things like this, borderline, scare me. The idea that we could make such a thing is makes me wonder whether or not we deserve to be here. Sometimes i dislike real life, the news, i dont even watch the news anymore...I could die in my sleep tonight, i could die next week cause some whacko believes if he kills enough of us he'll go to heaven, i could die 50 years from now with grandchildren in a new utopia born into peace and unity...personally, the stone age wouldnt be so bad...if it was done to the whole planet, and not just one group, the new dominated beat down society. What was the movie with snake blisken/kurt russel...escape from la 2 i think? this situation reminds me of that.

Makes me wish i didnt have to wait so long till i get that boat and find an island somewhere to live on, i dare you to send a 254 billion dollar emp at my island biotch, id be sittin in the sand laughin my ass off. However, it would suck if you hated me enough to nuke me

As quoted Dark Angel was something like that, EMP shockwave that knocked pretty much everything out. Should that happen well

IMO if there were a maor war with..ok..there's no "major" enemies ot the US but theoretically if there were then one E-Bomb and the war would last about...5 minutes..And without any loss of life. It's a really good tactic that I'm sure was being developed crazily in the Cold War.

Ok heres the link if your interested.
http://www.ki4u.com/free_book/s73p903.htm

They even tell about tests of a EMP bomb, myths and facts of nuclear bomb etc. I found this e-book to be quite interesting.
