Re: Dealing with a type A boss

I work at a restaurant on the beach, my bosses are hillarious. This one time, a girl was going to be leaving the job, so they were having a celebration, I came down to check my schedule, and by this time work was over. They were getting a bit drunk, and at one point, my manager says, "Hey, you guys wanna meet Murray?" (which actually is his name) then whips his **** out and waves it around. At the moment I was a little disturbed, but I can look back on it and laugh now.

I havent seen waiting. If something similar happened, then he was probably inspired by it.

My bosses at Pizza Hut are pretty cool. They dont care if you screw up, or do something stupid. They do, however, expect you to be doing something, be it making a pizza, or pretending to sweep floors. They dont care.

See the problem is Hamma... most employees don't know what they're doing and left on their own they will do jack shit. My old job had three of those idiots around my departement...

I was running around like a fucking idiot trying to do everything while those fuckers lounged around... guess what? I got fired from the job... go figure... might have something to do with my flipping out and starting to boss the idiots around. Apparently they don't take too kindly with people who have initiative there. They rather have passive fucks who stand by like my old supervisor who had been there for 20 years and it's the only real reason he was supervisor...

Nothing like creating stress where there doesn't need to be any I hate bosses who create un-needed stress. Just let me do my damn job and leave me alone!!!11 Jaged isn't saying he wants to sit back and drink a beer on the job, just that he doesn't want some power monger breathing down his neck at every second of his shift.

I'm a laid back worker, when I am given tasks I get them done. When I have my own tasks I get them done. I don't need some person on a power trip breathing down my neck every second of the day. I work much better when ya leave me alone. At an HS there are parts of the year where there are 10,000 things happening at once and 5 different departments pulling me in every direction, I deal.

All it really boils down to is this: If your employee knows how to do his/her job then leave them to do it and stay out of their hair.

Hamma wins. Thats exactly what I was saying. Ill admit this is my first job and some direction from my superiors and co workers is always apreciated. However dont fucking stress out over a coffee shop.

You have to remember that the people who boss shitty jobs tend to make a career out of being a lifelong teenager who cant get a real job.

Gio in that case it's ok for the boss to be up their ass. I'm just saying if your employee is doing a resonable job then leave them be. And tell them "Hey you are doing a good job" that improves their moral and they do even better.

Being inside someone's ass all day is just gonna make them angry.

1. Waiting was fucking hilarious "ITS SO ANGRY!!!"

2. The game has been around for years. Infact I was at a party just the other night and I did something hilarious. I took my camera, set the timer, took a picture of my self doing the goat (Bending over and sticking your doniig between your legs). I then uploaded the picture to the guys computer. A few hours later when we were all pretty toasted I convinced the host to show everyone a picture he captured of what we believe is a ghost or a creature (future post, obtaining hi rez version ASAP). So there like 10 people gathered around the computer, Im standing in the door. They start scrolling through the pics. He gets to the one right before the ghost pic and says "ok this is it, check it out" everyone is staring at the screen. Of course the next pic is my dong perched between my legs. I run into the room and scream "GET YOUR KICKS FUCKERS". They all bend over and take their kicks. Weve been playing the game for like 20 years. Funny when someone goes into the bathroom and everyone gets up on chairs with their dongs out of their pants for an eye level door opening experience.

3. While hamma is pretty much right you might want to consider that this A type person might have a goal in mind. A promotion. She might be working like she does for that. I work at Fed Ex. Im a manager there. I run a line where people pull boxes off a belt and load them on trucks. The work is exhausting and after 8 hours everyone is beat tired. But there is NO time for rest. My advice? Relish your time on the pisser. Take an extra long time on purpose. Some jobs you get it easy some you dont. Work all the time for that manager. If she doesnt let off, tell her off.... "Hey, what the heck? (Dont be very rude, but use language to get the point your not exactly thrilled) Im working, Im doing my job, everything is getting done. Why do you always have to be creeping down my back? Just ease up on me and Ill have alot less stress so Itll be easyer to do my job." You'r not working a labor intensive job so you dont need a few seconds to sit and rest. Just keep chuggin along. Wipe down some counters. check the garbage bags. Do stuff that keeps you moving but at an easy pace. The secret to surviving an asshole of a boss, is to sometimes look busy but not acctualy be busy. Just dont abuse it.

Re: Dealing with a type A boss

I have a boss like this. I just burned her out by starting work every day 30 minutes later than I'm supposed to. She doesn't yell at me anymore.

She knows that I don't care, and she knows that threats don't work against me. She knows she can't afford to fire me and she knows I know my job better than just about anyone else in my department.

So now, other than an occasional "cmon lets keep it moving!" she leaves me alone.

I wouldn't reccomend this as your course of action however. It's a good way of getting fired unless you've got really good job security (which I do atm).
