One thing I realized was that as long as the beard is well kept, it doesn't really matter.

If they ask if you are willing to shave, then say yes. But you won't automatically be put on the back burner just because you have a beard.

That depends entirely upon the job. My last job didn't even like staches, never mind allowing full beards.

I know some jobs don't like beards. That's why I said sometimes they will ask if you'd be willing to shave. But because you have a beard in the interview, it doesn't mean you will be put on the back burner. There were plenty of times I had gone in for a second interview, with my beard. I've interviewed a lot. A little too much, actually. I always tried for jobs out of my experience level.
