I apologize if this has been answered, but I haven't seen anything in regards to the new hacking approach. Could anyone shed some light if there is any light to shed on this subject? Is the hacking going the be the same?
Basically just holding the 1990's Tiger Talkboy (Watch homealone w/ the blonde haired kid that was a druggie in party monster) against a panel and having a faction colored LED shine to initiate the "hack" process? |

Yea, i've seen all interview video's and didn't hear anything in regards to hacking. I figured my attention span didn't clear 20 mins.

The only thing I recall them saying is that hacking is their number 1 concern and will receive plenty of attention from them. No mention of specifics on what/how they intend to cope with it. It's now a different day and age and better technologies do exist now so time will tell.

I believe there is also a thread about hacking vs hacking... and someone said to change hacking to "get da fuh outta da vehicle" cert.

The only info so far I've seen about hacking (as a game mechanic) is that you'll no longer be able to do it to vehicles, they said 2 reasons, they didn't want to do art assets for each vehicle belonging to every empire (trippling texture budget) but also they wanted to keep balance based on the assumption you can't get each others weapons.
This leads me to believe that traditional hacking of weapon and vehicle terminals is probably different as well, for the same reasons. It doesn't really confirm much, only that it's going to have to change somewhat in PS2.

Yea we aren't sure how hacking will work i this game specifically. I'm sure it will be in there in one form or another, but how where and when it will be done compared to the first game remains to be seen.
I hope it's in there, but that not all capture mechanics revolve around it. |

I think it would be interesting if they made a hacking mini-game of sorts, like Bioshock. Also, I'd like to see hacking develop as a personal skill used by everyone, but with a skill tree that branches into several different specializations. But that's just me.
