Go re-read the last paragraphs of part 2. Only the VS have Rebirthing Technology at this point. Those TR and NC dying out there? They're really dead.

At least for now.

Gotta have a real reason other than "omg they killed kenny!", the murder reason doesnt work in the world of PS. Honestly, why kill these guys? Wouldnt it make more sense to tranq everyone and put em in stasis prisons or somethin? Killin em just sends em back to get re-equipped, fairly pointless. And yeah i know, cant start usin logic in a game, but i cant help it when i see the overly dramatic stuff based on "killing" someone in a world where death is less hassle than a cold.
As far as we know in the story mate, this is all happening before the rebirthing tech has been deployed.

Which means that at this point on Auraxis; you die, you stay dead.

Others have pointed out that you kinda missed an important part of the story. But you kinda also just rationalized away any reason for playing Planetside too.

The Vs think both of them are nuts, and joined the war because they believe those two have to be destroyed.

Actually, that makes the Vanu look like the bad guys.

Crap.
TR set laws to protect their power zealously before their own citizens, they have instilled enough fear in the population so that they don't notice/care. The corruption is deep but their bureaucracy is also one of their weaknesses.

NC think TR laws are deviating from the original government that had been formed (which drove humanity to find a new planet to colonize!) and became a military industrial complex dictatorship. It would be better to die on our feet than to live under the boots of the TR!

VS are the Scientologists of Auraxis. They believe that their technology will set them above everyone else and feel superior to the human condition, driven by the voice of Vanu. (I bet the guy who first claimed to have heard the voice became the leader...)

Judging by the notion of "telepathic" communication Vanu is communicating to people that will listen. So not really a god so much as an alien as the writing says. So they see themselves as chosen or better.

I liked this one better than the others.

But I don't like how they present the TR as bad guys factually. In the first post, you just get some TR soldier's opinions and how they view them. This guy tells you straight up how they are being oppressed (in exact same ways the British Colonies were in North America......)

What happened to there being no clear good or bad guys?

A future chapter might rectify this by either a corrupt leader who is forced to step down or some knowledge that the TR higher ups possessed that the others did not.

I really don't mind being on the side of a totalitarian oppressive regime. But I'm not happy with the way it is right now. (Let businessmen bring mercenaries and then be super oppressive....wtf?)

The more I look at this the less sense it makes to me. It's cool sometimes but I find it failing at the purpose of having game lore. But like I said, maybe future installments will rectify some of this. Even with that being the case though it will be hard to give new players a good idea of what's what while the backstory is in its current format.

Please tell me that I wasn't the only one who marked Genny as dead in part 1. So many tropes pointed to her not making it.

I think a lot of you guys are misinterpreting the story. Like I'm not a 100% sure but I can't really agree with any of these post so far. It's either that or I can't read....

I would say why I think this but I think it would require making a detailed analyses of the story... Which is probably for another post...

I'm pretty much in the same boat as you Gray. Maybe they'll fix this as the story moves forward but right now it seems like they're failing miserably at creating sympathizable backstory for all three sides.

Oh my word no. It couldn't have been more obvious if she had been named Private Notgonna Live and flown out in a gal with "fresh corpse delivery" written on the side in glowing neon letters.

I must say the third installment is certainly an improvement. I would say the author is doing a really good job of presenting each of the distinct perspectives of the conflict. Obviously each empires respective characters are Bias to their own cause, so we can only trust their word soo much. I really enjoyed each perspective on the current events and history as it depicts well the "fog of war" nature of conflict and politics. I for one would rate my beloved Conglomerate as the "bad guys" soo far as the Terrans seemed to make a decent argument for marshal law. My issue with the Republic would be it abusing such a thing: expanding the curfew, killing unarmed demonstrators, corruption in the government body/class, torture.....those kind of things. The Sovereignty are "evil" if one finds their curiosity for Vanu technology and culture threaten pure humanity (think 40k) and maybe even defile it. Understandable to my Blue and Gold heart of course. Quite frankly the New conglomerate needs to be sneakier. They really did incite a lot of unrest to ferment the atmosphere for war. Perhaps that is why the Terran's reacted so harshly?

So far so good, it needs polishing (Lavastorm, "NC Buttholes" ) but otherwise I can't complain too much. No one payed ME to write THIS.

Keep up the relatively acceptable work.

I think your close on the Vanu. Not only would the scientist's be more open to Vanu, I would think or theorize that perhaps exposure to the Ancient technology/knowledge(To the extent the Vanu sovereignty interact with it) would either influence or bridge the individual/individual's consciousness to "Vanu" itself.

This would explain why the New Conglomerate are so offended by it......and why the Terrans are so AFRAID of it. Vanu threatens the Terran Power and therefore control.

I read "'Jackhammer' shotguns and carbines". Of course they most likely meant separate weapons, but did anyone else think of a three-barreled carbine-sized shotgun, like a modified Saiga?

Yeah, not so fast champ.

1. If anything the scientists would be less open, because they'd be smart enough to realize that the disembodied voice telling them to kill everyone just might have some ulterior motives and not be trustworthy.

2. The backstory is supposed to be creating three factions that have radically different philosophies and ideas of government, but who can all make reasonable arguments as to why their way is right. That way people will choose the faction that best resonates with their personal beliefs, and feel more invested for having made the choice. "Be stupid insane and do whatever the voices tell you because you are a brainwashed half-wit" does not resonate well with any significant portion of the population.
