PS1 veteran servers

It will take a while for PS2 to be released and all, but I had this thought...
Do you guys thing PSU should send a newsletter to all its users once the game is released, telling them which server they should pick?
The purpose of this would be to have all of us oldpersons play on the same three servers (Europe, US West and US East).

I don't see any other way of potentially organizing this, except for a newsletter e-mail to all PSU users, but I'm open to suggestions.

This is a much better idea than what I thought it was going to be when I came in here

Since it isn't some sort of mandatory thing, I kinda like it.

We'll have to wait until we actually have a list of servers to choose from, but this would be a great way of organizing for people who were interested in playing with as many of the PS1 vets as possible.

I don't think anyone would actually see the effort of having higher latency just to run into some familiar names.

Naturally if for example Europe has several servers located in the same place or close enough, but for example NA east/west is quite a difference for players who live close the the coasts and not in the middle of the country.

Well before merge there was basically 1 for each region so its not pointless. I would like to play again with Werner players.

I don't see why this would be a problem. I'm assuming some of the servers would be named after the originals, not that one of them would be Gemini.

And suddenly I realized how dumb the whole idea was... It would be enough if the devs used the names of PS1 servers when they create the new ones. Vets will naturally flock to Werner, Johari, Markov etc.

They are reusing a lot of PS1 names, so I guess this isn't unlikely.

Just have a forums psot on PSU or official PS2 forums if they ever get them telling what server to roll on, I have organised and helped organised alot of server launches in the past been an oceanic player. Its the best way...sometimes too good and server breaks though....gotta watch for that.
