Armor with light during night phase is for bad-ass players who like to play in HARD mode.

Makes me wonder if theyre going to have a nightvision implant, since PS1 never had a night cycle. Seeing a fight in the dark might be a strain on the eyes, or a tactical advantage if you knock out nightvision with a jammer

I was already wetting myself thinking we'll see the first pic of Lightning in that article now, but then I realized it was the Quad only

I think they mentioned that they have at least played around with the idea of some kind of nightvision/thermal as an upgrade/cert for some vehicles at least. Apart from that, there are several things capable of firing flares over the battlefield to luminate it. Such as the MA rifles being able to fire a flare grenade from the underslung launcher.

Why are there lights on their helmets?

Is they flashlights for night?

If so they need to remember that red light is more tactical and harder to spot. (still easy as fuck to see.)

Actually, red is just about the easiest color to spot, hence why they use it as the stop color in especially traffic lights and traffic signs.

At least that's what I've been told

really think these are not lights at all.

remember one of the first vs pics we got?
was the same issue with a purple light, but it turned out that this would just be a reflection because the logos are a very reflecting material. seems to be the same here. the forehead is the place for the tr logo and on this picture we are not looking straight into the sun, like in almost every other shot.

i think it´s just the sun reflecting in the tr logo.

Like Shogun, I don't think those are lights. However, if that is a shine from the logo then that must be a really shiny logo. He must have spent a while polishing that.

Anyway, I highly doubt they would permanently add any lights to your armor for nighttime fighting. Surely they wouldn't look right past that.

The Quad looks great BTW

If you look at the shadows, the sunlight is coming from behind. So unless there is a random soldier holding up 2 mirrors, reflecting the sunlight towards those helmets, then I am pretty certain it ain't a reflection from the sun.

Actually it's the other way around. The military uses Red lights for low exposure lighting. If you looks at Mil Veh on the battlefield they will light up the interior red(sometimes green) to be able to read maps or gauges without having to use a white light which would give them away. Also use red caps on flashlight for Inf.

To me it probably was a corporation before war until the technology was taken fro granted and became a necessity for war.

e.g. Like the Frying Pan in your kitchen. It was a corporation until war took it for granted. It's something we just use now.

See?

I'm really not digging that light. As others have said, it really gives away your location :/

Put the TR logo back there.

Those "lights" look like motion-blurred reflections to me.

well that is the sign of a great arms dealer, sell to everyone....

Also I think I know what that red light is on the guys helmets, it's linked to the TR patriot button on the belt. Once pressed the Patriot torch on the helm glows red and blazes the the symbol of the Great Terran Republic into the corneas of the enemy, that's why almost all TR wear goggles so as not to be afflicted by their own great weapon.... come on I have to be close to the mark on that one!
If not Higby & TRay, make it so!

I think the lights are cool. I am NC though so there might be some bias there...

Red is used for both... Low levels of red light do not constrict our pupils the way that white light would, so we can maintain our dark adaptation. Bright red is more noticable (we have many more RG photoreceptors than B, especially in our central vision/focus), hence why it is used in stop lights and stop signs. The reasons for both of these are pretty complicated, I can't totally remember them even though I just took a class on color vision last quarter (optometry school).

The Army uses Red lense on their flashlights during tactical situations.

Or they feed bullshit to everyone during night land navigation.
