NC make their weapons, MAXes, and homes out of cardboard boxes.

its Blue! Normally i'm against the excessive colorization of weapons and equipment, but this for some reason This I like. I guess its the juxtaposition of its candy color and the serious damage it looks like it can do. i find that humorous. it looks like it was cut from the support structure of some old mine tunnel and re purposed to forcefully ventilate the hull of a tank. very guerrilla

You obviously have not been reading this whole thread. This was never about who has the best or worst AV. Before you call me mind numbed, maybe you should reread until you can finally figure out what we're talking about.

Zulthus, are you being serious with these posts? He was clearly being lighthearted there, why are you so serious all the time?

That doesn't translate very well over the internet.

I think it looks a bit too blueish because the pic is oversaturated. T-Ray phone cam may not be as blurry as Higby's but it definitely is very vibrant with colors.
^^

Now while the lancer was my definitely my favorite AV, coordinated (there is a reason why friendly Phoenix missiles showed on the minimap) players shooting a stream of 6 phoenixes together towards your tank with high unlikeliness of missing was... powerful. And deadly. The VS vehicles did not have a ton of armor like the vanguards did.

They were also the bane of MAXes.

The Striker felt like the weakest since it may rarely have killed vehicles due to the lock on but it also made enemy vehicles push back.

A shared problem with strikers and phoenixes is they gave away your location. The great plus of the Lancer was near-instant hit on target and not giving away your location (however, it was easier to miss a shot).

I'm not sure about you lot, but the industrial theme doesn't surprise or annoy me so much - as I'm more surprised it's a rectangular beam with a square profile and random triangles to support ...forces... that... work in... the plain... of the side?

I can't recall any cannon or bazooka that has a rectangular structure...I mean the force of the expanding air inside on the seems would be ginormous. Clearly this must be a super sci-fi high tech weapon as it'll fire laser guided composite aerodynamic bricks. *nods*

Sorry, am simply a bit confused about the design of the barrel. >.> Maybe you can stack them easier in piles now? I dunno. Must be some reason for that. Maybe they ran out of round piping due to the Conglomerate's new sewage system?

(EDIT: probably the internal barrel is round, still looks a bit silly)

Its to help guide the fins of the rocket at its target. So think of a rail system inside the launcher with each fin on a rail. ./shrug.

Also just because its square on the outside doesn't mean the actual tube inside isn't round.

Re: got nc launcher?

The Phoenix, while fun to shoot and annoying to people hiding behind things, was a terrible AV weapon.

The DPS was simply pittiful. As a battery weapon, where you've got a dozen guys fireing at the same target, it was OK...but alone it wasn't worth crap.
A Max could autorun in and out of your range before you could kill him.

I can't recall any cannon or bazooka that has a rectangular structure...I mean the force of the expanding air inside on the seems would be ginormous.
It's called a recoilless rifle. (Yes, it's a rocket launcher, but they opperate in much the same manner - the tube is open at both ends, not closed at one)

Part of the point is that you don't need a really heavy barrel to shoot a big projectile, like you would with a traditional gun/cannon type thing.

But the reason these things are circular tubes is that's the shape of the projectile, Squares would have excess volume in the corners. Or a Square with a circular hole would have excess material. Lots of potential reasons, pressure containment isn't really one.

True. Forgot about the open back end taking most of the pressure off as the expanding gasses can exit in two weaker directions.

Still if something explodes inside of something there's a force that acts outwards onto the hull. The lightest solution is to use a tube, rather than a box of plate materials as you wouldn't get stress concentrations at the corners. Plus it probably takes less manhours to make. And of course weight/strength optimization is an important design factor, normally. But yeah, it's a game anyway.

Accuracy through forced rotation around the main axis for stability would seem to be a good reason for a cilindrical shape?

As said though in the edit, I'd expect this to be more of an external visual thing. Patriot missile systems has a square external shape as well after all.

Knowing that it's an NC weapon, the reason for squared tubes must be all the magnets they add to make the pewpew launch faster.
