Just saying, I will probably do both. I exist in EVE, some may find this post and realize who I am.
I KNOW I am doing PS2.. old PS beta vet who ran with Forty Deuce (Vanu for LIFE!)
I am fairly sure I will get DUST, but probably not until sometime after launch as purchasing a PS2 is the only current roadblock there. Yes, I will use keyboard and mouse... not that I can't use controllers, but com' on, I'm a PC gamer and the mouse has superior aiming.
I'm a fan of both. In Eve, there is a lot more of the social aspect. The meta-game, as it's called. I can create propaganda graphics and sell it for ISK as well as join enemy channels and spy on conversations for the good of my corp, or the highest buyer, if I am the mercenary.
I can hobnob with reporters (yes there are news reporters scouring for the latest scoop, see
http://tech4news.org ) and create their websites to help promote the free press... and then go in game, board my ship, fly with my corporation, join up with our alliance mates who are all part of an even larger coalition, and go invade enemy territories and take their sovereignty... while spamming my latest propaganda posters in local, demoralizing the enemy, yet winning points on creativity.
Want to know the big difference, and I don't think anyone's mentioned it? It's the ISK. (Inner Stellar Krona), the money. Dust 514 has a money system. It's going to be tied in with EVE as the game is expanded on. This does mean that the pod pilots (Eve players) will be able to effect the battles on the planets in Dust with funding.
That is the biggest difference, funding. With that comes interesting politics (yes wars are launched based on popular opinions of individuals) and long lasting reasons why battles are fought.
So, to let you guys know, I AM a very big fan of Planetside and Planetside 2 (from what I've seen of it). I am also a fan of Eve, like a few posters here are. What does that spell? Sony gets more of my ISK! I mean dollars!
