recently I have been thinking of a really cool MMO idea which mainly combines a Planetside like MMO with a medieval 3rd person sword fighting action game as Mount&Blade Warband.
For those of you who don't know it.
Mount&Blade (and especially Multiplayer sequel "Warband") is basically a medieval warfare simulator where you can fight against each other with swords, bows, on foot or mounted. Really cool and exciting.
Now Planetside has already proven that massive battles of hundreds of people fighting each other simultanously technically works and is a hell of a fun.
M&B Warband has a multiplayer mode called "siege" where one faction has to defend a castle while the other one tries to get inside it. Siege towers and ladders play a role in the battle (siege weapons would be great, too)
What I imagine is a Planetside like huge world with 3 factions/kingdoms fighting over castles and territories all over the country.
Just like in Planetside you could form up clans/outfits and squads. An organized clan would have their cavalry squad or archers protected by infanterists with long spears. They would just look awsome on the battle field and win because of superior tactics.
Those of you who know Mount&Blade will certainly agree that a combination of Planetside and medieval warfare could be the next huge thing in video gaming.
