Mmm... Those straight lines feel bland and make the scythe look like a fat boat.
What about curvier triangle shapes for the back ? Other than that (and the all-teal minimap), it looks awesome ! Edit: I like the Vanu symbols on the shoulder higlights. Still curious to see how it looks from below. And the scarab armor look too ! It's like a flying PS1 mag ! Edit2: final thoughts: maybe not disco-flashy enough for VS. Front bit reminds me of a cylon raider. . .
What if the vanu WERE Cylons? Bow down and beg forgiveness from our powerful alien progenitors before we get them to nuke your puny NC and TR infastructure into the ice age. #nods# |

Keep in mind that the Vanu venerate almost past worshiping these aliens because of the advances Vanu are capable of just from reverse engineering the artifacts. It's been shown many times already that the Vanu are not afraid to borrow and outright copy their technology or styles. Somehow I doubt that a Vanu engineer that designed the Scythe would willingly let go of something so jarringly human, even if it is only cosmetic. Really that flat back and the rear pylons are the only major straight line offenders, and I actually have to say that the general concept of the back pylons has slowly grown on me over time. I just feel like they need a little tapering at the back so it isn't such an abrupt square cut off. That and the flat middle section in the back looks like something is missing, like an entire section of the aircraft fell off. Overall, I think keeping some human looking elements is cool in the designs. It's like the VS try to be like the aliens, but they are still attempting it from a human mindset. I like how the new Magrider in PS2 looks even less human tech than the PS1 Magrider, but I don't mind the occasional nod to humanity. The VS aspire to be like Vanu, but they don't claim to have achieved such perfection. Not quite yet at least I wonder if we will get a more snub tailed version that looks even closer to a Cylon Raider. Maybe as a variant that has a lower top speed and less armor, but quicker acceleration and more maneuverability. I would not say no to that. I always had a hard time rooting for the humans when the Cylons looked so badass. |

My opinion is that the scythe could definately use a more curvy or agressively rounded design to fit with the VS style we have seen from other assets. It looks more like a heavy fighter bomber type aircraft to me from this particular screenshot and doesnt quite seem to capture the highly manoverable aspect when i look at it. Seeing it in motion might be completely different however so i am happy to wait and see
