I believe that just due to the perspective. Also at day time it won't look like that at all I think.

Seeing smiley faces on top of modular outposts isn't normal but in Planetside it is.

I see "crossroads watchtower" so the upgrades are the air pads AND the smiley face.

As far as faces go, this one is pretty obvious. But on many of the screen shots I have seen a lot of the buildings have faces.

Well I hope they have some sort of base upgrades. ModularI guess that means the nearby facility can make it an air/watch/gun twr or mabey a combo of the twrs.

Modular clearly means that towers are built out of multiple, transforming/nanite-reconfigurable Sunderers. Drive near a Tower foundation, and you get the option to deploy it as a Vehicle Pad, Air Pad, or Equipment Terminal...

I'm really disappointed that nobody has even commented (favorably or in horror) on my Voltron Sunderer Tower theory.

Is there an option to black these things out so they are less like a sign for a lighting warehouse in an unlit alley at night?

I would want mine to last a while. No lights option would be nice.

Who needs easily-rapeable AMS's when you can have these instead?

Have they touched on the idea of outfits owning/placing towers at all recently? That was something that REALLY got me excited when I first heard Higby talking about it.

I'm sure most of you have seen/read it before as it is quite old but for those that haven't:
