Planetside 1 Subscription vs Planetside 2 FTP?

When Planetside 2 is released, will Planetside 1 still be a subscription? What would be the reason if the did decide to keep it a subscription?

If anything PS1 is going to be shutdown. I don't see anyone playing it at that point.

Hm... You're probably right. However, how will they stop it if let's say, someone has a subscription renewal the day before it shuts down?

Or will they just bounce the payment?

Sarcasm not appreciated.

Either give refund with whatever time is left unsured or if there is a sub option in PS2 just have it rolled over into that I guess.

Stupid people will probably still be willing to pay for it. Therefore it could make financial sense to keep it a subscription.

I doubt they would auto refund the money. I can see SOE rolling pro-rated PS1 cash into Station Cash.

They will probably say "Ok, PS2 is being released in 6 months. We're going to shut down PS1 at that time. No further subscriptions we be accepted that will go past that 6 month mark. The last month will be free for everyone to give a proper goodbye"

Wouldn't count on it. There were still people playing Star Wars Galaxies before that got shut down to make way for TOR. PS1 probably wont fare any better when PS2 comes around.

I vote they release the source code and server software for it.

We already have it... or rather, someone does have it. No private servers were set up so as to avoid getting sued.
